“Fascinating”
Review of McConkie Ranch

McConkie Ranch

These petroglyphs are located on private property. The owners graciously allow visitors for a small donation. I wish we had more time here but we still got to see some amazing petroglyphs after a short hike. The hike was fine for us but could be difficult for some as it is rocky and uphill. I would recommend a visit here if you are in the area.

This family has generously opened their property to visitors to see the petroglyphs from the Freemont people that are carved in the cliff face. There is a sweet little picnic area (with porta-johns in the summer) and a shed with a refrigerator of water and sodas. Honor system payment.
They provide walking sticks and hikers should make use of them. The hike up and along the cliffs is rocky and winding and a bit of a challenge for anyone with bad knees. The trail is very clearly marked and the petroglyphs impressive.
The property is open during daylight hours and in good weather only. The trail would be dangerous when wet.

Great little hike. Not to hard for a younger family and great glyphs along the way. For the short drive and a small donation a great way to spend a couple hours with your family seeing some cool history up close.

Private land, undeveloped trail up to the petroglyphs. Not an easy hike, but my kids (8 and 6) did it. Free to visit, $2/ car donation asked. Free walking sticks, port-a- potty, bring your water, but they do sell it for $1. Worth it!
