“Great option when visiting Bryce”
Reviewed September 19, 2013

This is a great place to stay if you are visiting Bryce. Our room was nice, the beds were comfortable, the view/setting was better than any of the options closer to the park, the room was clean and nicely serviced, and the homemade breakfast (served at 8am) was delicious. The innkeeper (Matt) was helpful and friendly. The one improvement I would suggest is to add a coffeemaker&coffee to the guest rooms.

Picked this place at random on the web, and was very positively surprised! Spacious cosy rooms, great view on the mountains, and the owner Matt is a really nice guy. Definitely recommended! Plus there is a really lovely restaurant down the road, which makes great dinner! (And lots of it)

We found the room to be beautifully presented with a number of mini toiletries available. The bed was very comfortable. It would have been nice to have coffee/tea making facilities in the room though. The website specifies that there were trails from the house however when we asked the host about this, he said there weren't any. We were excited to sample the much raved about breakfasts and to be fair, they were very tasty and well presented however we were surprised that there was no choice available and the portion sizes were not quite as intimated...we are however hikers and perhaps auto tourists would find the breakfasts more than ample. We were in fact hungry by mid morning. Unfortunately, we did not find the host to be particularly affable

My husband and I stayed here for one night last week and our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer.
Our room was spacious with a king bed with a magnificent view of the mountain. The gourmet breakfast was excellent and enough so that we didn't even have lunch!
We are hoping to return next year for a longer stay!

We stayed one night while exploring Bryce National Park. Everything is clean, updated, and the property is in a non-touristy, quiet but convenient, location. Our second floor room was huge and quiet. The room next door was occupied with guests but we never heard anything in our room. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Our host, Matt, was friendly, helpful, and clued us into a local trail into the Canyon. This is a great choice for exploring the area.

I have only been to Bryce Canyon one other time, several years ago. This time, we booked our trip rather late. And having stayed outside of Zion and only spending a day last time in Bryce, I only knew about the main town of Bryce. I found the reputable, although touristy places completely booked. So we looked at staying in Tropic. I will never stay anywhere else again when visiting Bryce. Bryce Trails B&B was a perfect place to stay. it is so close to Bryce by car and there is The Tropic Trail leading into Bryce from the East close by. We were greeted by Matt when we got there and he told us to make ourselves at home and was very nice and cheery.

The Room:
We stayed in the Bristlecone Room, It was perfectly clean, the room, the bath everything. There was a king bed, a TV, and two comfy chairs to sit in. It's on the second floor. There is a view outside the window that was great. There is a long shared balcony in front of three of the rooms on this southwest side with 5 chairs. Yes, you can't control the temp in the room, but it was fine, the temp was usually always cool. The A/C is on non-stop in the day. The first night it was a little warm but I opened the screened window a bit and we were fine. They was a towel pig waiting on the bed when we got there and a pair of towel swans on the second day. Aside from the regular soap, shampoo, conditioner and shower gel, they also had a little toothpaste and although we didn't need it, a little shaving kit. There is a bird feeder out front that had a lot of blue birds and hummingbirds visiting. There was also an occasional cottontail scampering around in the morning and evening. We saw a young buck between the turn off for Bryce Way and the B&B one evening right across from the school,

The Food, Chez Matt:
The first day we had homemade oatmeal with cran-raisins on top, strata with veges, sooo good and raspberry muffins and OJ. The coffee was out before 8. The next day we had a bowl of fresh chopped fruit with a little cream and almonds on top followed by french toast covered in fresh blueberries/sauce with two delicious sausages. My daughter felt a little under the weather the night before so I asked them to just give her fruit and toast the next morning and they were fine with that. The food was amazing. You can plan to skip lunch, we did. Yes it's plentiful. I think people would complain if it wasn't. You sit family style at two tables and they serve you. Another couple mentioned they had gone on an early morning hike and then returned for breakfast at 8, I would definitely do that next time if I didn't have a child in tow. There is The Tropic Trail very close to the B&B that leads into Bryce.

The Town nearby:
The town of Tropic is not very big. There is a Clarke's restaurant which is usually packed. They have a good array of food, a little pricey, but they certainly have the monopoly on the restaurant situation. There was a BBQ food truck/trailer right across the street from Clarke's that was open for dinner at the same time, we didn't eat there, but saw several others eating there. There was also a Mexican food truck but we didn't see it open once in two days. There is a Pizza Place in town and a grocery/general store and that's about it. We came out of the park late the second night and ate some overpriced pizza at Ruby's Diner. The Clarke's general store has an ice cream shop. If you stay here in Tropic be sure to take a trail ride with Mecham Outfitters!

The drive:
It's about a 15-20 minute scenic drive between the ,main entrance to the park and Tropic. You will pass the Mossy Cave Trail on the way. The last time we came to Bryce we saw plenty of antelope all over. This time, deer were more plentiful and we saw only one antelope in Bryce in two days. On the second night there, leaving Bryce going back to the B&B on HWY 12 we saw a large group of antelope in the early evening. Had we not stayed in Tropic, we never would have seen them.

Room Tip: the Bristlecone room was perfect, it was up one flight of stairs

The title of this review say's it, Bryce Trails B&B has it all. Upon arrival we were greeted by Matt and Emily with the both of them wishing us a happy Anniversary and a big surprise with regard to our room. Bryce Trails B&B is quaint with beautiful views, but Matt and Emily with their personalities and their own little touches make it a very special place. The location is beautiful and central to all the places that we wanted to visit. With Bryce Canyon, Escalante and the Grand Staircase very close by, we were able to see and do all that we wanted. After conversing with both Matt and Emily and receiving insider information and wisdom of the area, we set out to adventure in what is their very backyard. The hints and tips proved to be invaluable. We even took the 30 minute trip to Panguitch to see the annual Ballon Festival. I save the best part about Bryce Trails for last, it is the Breakfast. You wake up to the smell of a full home cooked Breakfast that will rival any down home meal. Matt and Emily spare no energy when it comes to their guests in the morning, they go all out. We sat with other guests and spoke of adventures and the
topic always came back to how wonderful the food was. Matt and Emily understand what it is that their guests want and with us on our Anniversary they made it one of the most special and memorable that we have had in our 26 years of marriage. We will be back soon!!!
