Pine Shadows Cabins

This past Aug. on our way through the back country from the North Rim of the Grand canyon to Park City, Ut., we stopped for the night at Pine Shadows. It was a perfect spot to unwind at the end of a long day of driving through spectacular country. The next morning, we had our coffee on the back porch and enjoyed a beautiful view of the sun rising over Capital Reef. Awesome! My wife and I agreed this was truly a diamond in the rough. After checking out we drove into Torrey and had a great breakfast at the Chuckwagon. The waitress might have been the highlight of the trip. But that' another story.

What a hidden gem in the Capital Reef area. My wife, son and dog had a pleasant time in Teasdale a few weeks ago. Debbie was very prompt in getting back to me via email, when I first contacted her about staying at her cabins. Very polite an accommodating to our needs. The cabins are very clean and spacious--even has a nice heater in the bathroom along with plush towels you find in higher end hotels. Very close to the park, and a great hike just 10 min. away and you're in red rock formations...my son had a blast. Eventhough we had people staying on both sides of house, we hardly heard them, and they both had dogs as well. People seem to respect the serenity and solitude of the area. Kitchen is fully stocked (wine opener/wine glasses/pots/pans), even had ice cubes in a tray for us. Another cool thing, is the 24hour open office where you can grab an array of dvd's,books and maps to enjoy for your pleasure. Definetly, stay here if you want a clean, affortable place and close to the park!

The cabin was spacious and very clean. I found the cabin to be conveniently located for visiting Capitol Reef National Park. My only "issue" was a lack of internet connectivity--although it was probably not the worst thing to get away from the internet for four days! The owners were available to answer any questions. I recommend the Pine Shadow Cabins.

I love staying at Pine Shadows! The cabins are a great alternative to staying in a regular motel room, and the rural setting of Teasdale is a peaceful and beautiful location. This is a great place to stay when exploring Capitol Reef, and having a kitchen and the ability to cook was better than eating out in Torrey. (Be sure to buy food and supplies before getting to this area--there are no real grocery stores nearby.) Steve and Debbie could charge way more than they do, but happily, they have kept their prices affordable and reasonable. Each cabin has a small sitting area out back, as well as a gril for cooking--and an incredible view. Can't wait to go back!

I have been going to Pine Shadows for years, but won't be back, again. I was in constant contact about a booking and had no communication from the staff when the cabins were no longer available.

We have returned annually to Pine Shadows for 6 or 7 years. Steve and Debbie have become good friends, and we look forward to seeing them each year and enjoying the beauty and peacefulness of this part of Utah. The night sky is fantastic! The cabins are always spotlessly clean. Small barbecues are equipped and ready on the back porch of each cabin. There is an extensive library of CDs to watch on the TV. We've enjoyed excellent dining nearby when we're not cooking in the handy, compact kitchen. Restaurants we like--Rim Rock, Cafe Diablo (especially for their desserts), and Hell's Backbone Grill (an hour away in Boulder). There is also a great malt shop in Torrey called Chillzz, I think. We'll be back next year.
