Owner description: A beautiful park located on the largest of the Great Salt Lakes islands; features lots of white-sand beaches, hiking and biking trails in addition to a variety of flora and fauna, including deer, bob cats, and of course, antelopes.

The best thing about the island is being able to get away from the city, cement and traffic without going very far. If you squint, you can see the city across the lake, but it's so quiet out on the island. Playing in the sand at the beach was great. It's interesting to see the round sand. I guess it's very unique and illegal to remove the sand from the beach. The part of the beach we visited was so extensive that we could sit down and not worry about our children wandering away. It's a long way from the parking to the water. I wouldn't suggest the water. The beach right around the water was littered with debris and dead birds and it was yucky and mucky. We did not go swimming. When we went, the Bison corrals were rather empty. Not worth the drive to the corrals. Driving up to the viewpoint was neat. We loved the ranch. The park next to the ranch has really really tall trees that provide an okay sun cover for playing Frisbee with children during the day. We've taken our family to do crafts at the ranch 3 times over the years.

You don't need to worry about heat and gnats in March, so none of the negative reviews are relevant at that time. If you drive to the left when you get to the island you should see bison quickly. They come rather close to the road so that was cool. We didn't see an antelope until we had given up and were on our way out. The ranch was fairly entertaining and the people working there were really nice. Hiking didn't really seem worth it to us as the sights weren't interesting enough. Overall it was a nice day trip on a day we had nothing else to do during our salt lake stay.

We needed to stop somewhere for a picnic and also wanted to see the Great Salt Lake. We came to Antelope Island State Park. It really was beautiful and magical despite the stinky odor of the lake. Take the road toward the Carr Ranch and see the mountains reflect in the lake as buffalo graze on the side of the road. Spectacular.

It was an absolutely wonderful experience to be at Antelope Island
The drive to the National Park from Salt Lake City was fabulous .. even more so when we crossed on the narrow road into the Island .. saw the bisons at a distance .. went to the ranch and steeped ourselves into the place.
Then after having enjoyed a wonderful afternoon, we started back ... and there they were .. the herd was crossing the road ... seeing the majestic animals fromn close .. well soprt of as we were a minimum of about 50-100 metres away at all times .. waiting with bated breath for the herd to move away
The entire day became magical .. just for the sheer beauty of this National Park

Until recommended by Shawn, Thrifty Rental, we hadn’t even known of Antelope Island. This ended up being a highlight of the trip and was steeped in Utah history. The countryside and lake were impressive to see and I’ll be honest, the coolest part was being able to see Bison roam freely. The drive around the island was quite cool too…never thought of the lake having “islands” but they have quite a few. The visit to the island is well worth the trip and the museum wasn’t too bad either. If into local artists, they had local art displayed and available for purchase, at reasonable prices.
