The decor, wait staff, and food were the best of our trip! We went for lunch on our way back to Vegas from Zion Park. Both had the grilled tenderloin burgers with bleu cheese. This is fillet mignon in hamburger style...we can never go back to ordinary burgers again! Shared the bread pudding for dessert. It was like warm date nut bread cubes with a white chocolate and caramel drizzle and whipped cream...mmmmm! The upstairs location was beautiful with the red bud trees in bloom just outside our window. Also, it was easy to get to from the highway.

On a recent trip to Utah's National Parks, my husband and I were driving through St. George, Utah. We were ready to stop for dinner and did not want to do fast food; after traveling most of the day, we wanted a nice restaurant where we could relax. I must confess that I selected this restaurant from the AAA Colorado/Utah Tour Book and I selected it based soley on the name - Paintd Pony. We experienced some difficulty in locating the restaurant, as it had recently moved. However, once we did find it, the experience was great. The restaurant appeared to be somewhat more upscale that we had thought, so we were somewhat hesitant to be seated, seeing that we were not dressed as well as usual, having traveled all day. The hostess assured us that we were dressed acceptably and even though we did not have a reservation, we were immediately seated. The decor is very Southwest, very attractive. Our server was very pleasant, accomodating and very wanted us to be comfortable. The ambiene is great; food was just wonderful. We certainly would go back to this restaurant if we are ever in this vacinity again.
We did walk in the downtown area and St. George is a beautiful community.

Lunched at the Painted Pony in early April and we were pleased with the setting, menu selection service and price. The restraunt is on a second floor with the window tables overlooking a small historic courtyard. The interior is comfortably stylish with interesting artwork throughout.

The specialty of the house at lunch was meatloaf which was very good. It can be off putting to have meatloaf as a signature dish but the chef has made it worth while. There are several great fusion appeitizers and main entrees as well. The dessert menu was very good and enticed us to share a mousse.

To top it off, the service was outstanding. Our server carefully explained the specialties of the house and really knew what made them so special. This is important in trying out fusion dishes because of the marrying of interesting, unusual pairings of ingrediants. We took our server's recommendations and were not disappointed. Painted Pony is clearly one of the top restraunts in St. George.

Painted Pony was great and refreshing break from the mundane typical restaurant. Had lunch there overlooking the historic Ancestor Park courtyard. Smoked Chicken Salad on croissant with side of greens was great and not heavy on the mayo. Salads were also fresh and plenty for 2. Wine list was extensive, but we were just there for a quick lunch.

Can't wait to get back out to Mesquite NV/St George area in the fall to try Dinner!!
