“Consistently Good”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 28, 2012

Every time we pass through St. George, Utah, perhaps twice a year, we enjoy a delicious, well-prepared meal at Painted Pony. The gourmet southwestern style menu is imaginative. The service is terrific. The atmosphere is low-key and relaxing, while evoking the desert surroundings. We highly recommend this restaurant.

“If I wanted to spend a fortune on crap I'd move back to New York”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 24, 2012

This is so typical in LA, Vegas, New York - and there is always some rip off artist style yokel-local who thinks they can make something look big city in small city but if the big cities were like this, there wouldn't be any appeal. Overpriced, over-hyped, way too much for your pallet, like chewing on garlic cloves that have been marinated in garlic sauce and drenched with garlic salt!

“A great night out”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 23, 2012

A colleague and I recently at at the Painted Pony in the middle of the week. Although it was easiliy 90 degrees (maybe more) outside, we decided to enjoy the deck, which was cooled by misters. We were warm...and we loved it.

We shared a bottle of Conundrum wine, nicely priced, which matched well with all the dishes we had. Don't expect much help from your waiter in selecting your wine. Although ours had sampled the wine, his description was limited to "delicious", which it was.

The beet and goat cheese salad was well presented, fresh, and different. It was topped with crunchy beet strips which gave it just the right bite. I had the chicken, which was a half cornish hen served with olive tapenade and a lovely lemony risotto. The meal was perfect, just the right amount to go away satisfied, but not stuffed.

The service was attentive and helpful. Water glasses were kept full (something important in the desert!) and although we lingered for nearly three hours, we were never rushed or ignored.

You will pay a little more than at other restaurants in St. George, but you will also have a nicer ambiance and a higher quality dinner.

“Probably best restaurant in town”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 18, 2012

This was recco'd by the hotel as we were only in town one night but wanted a good n relaxing meal. And it was open Sunday which is an issue here

Billed as SW grill, The menu included pork chop which my husband had and he liked it, morrican spiced chicken, lamb chops, hanger steak. I had seared ahi over pan fried noodles but it was about 8 bites of tuna pieced over a ate of Asian seasoned thick noodles that were like pasta, not crispy pan fried. Since I was wanting a Tuna dish and not pasta, I wasn't thrilled.

Salads were very good and entree sized

Apps and salads are about $10. Entrees are about $28. House Pinot was very good although expensive $48/bottle.

Good service. Mediocre bread. Very nice SW decor. We would go again.
