We visited the Painted Pony for lunch. The house salad was one of the freshest we have ever had and the vinagrette dressing was phenomenal. We had the brisket sandwich with gruyere cheese melted on it . . . it was one of the best lunches we have ever had. We ordered the Key Lime pie for dessert. The flavor was perfect, not too sweet . . . letting just the right amount of the lime flavor to come through.

We would have liked to have dinner there, but our schedule didn't permit. The restaurant is located on the top floor of a building which is part of a group of stores.businesses in downtown St. George. Ask for a table by the window, as there are nice views down to the courtyard below.

The dinner menu looked offered an interesting variety of appetizers and entrees. I have to assume that dinner would have been to the same standard as was our lunch.

The lunch menu offers both variety and affordability for anyone looking to try out the Painted Pony. The subtle seasoning mixed with quality ingredients stood out with my first bite into the Panini Turkey sandwich with sauted peppers. Moist and full of flavor! My wife ordered the Rosemary Chicken in a wrap which was equally tasty. The sandwiches are served with fries or a green house salad with mixed greens and a light vinaigrette. The soup of the day was a carrot and chicken soup with tortilla strips in a spicey red broth that was good though a little too oily.
The atmospere is very relaxed and pleasant. Service was friendly and well timed so you can really enjoy your meal--which one definitely wants to savor--without being rushed. The portions are just right and there is a nice variety of drinks and desserts. About the only thing I would have liked is a slice of fresh bread or a roll with my soup. Otherwise, I look forward to making the Painted Pony a regular stop when I am in St. George and I would recommend it to anyone willing to pay a little more for a special dining experience.

The food here is over priced and not that great considering what you are paying. The service is good and the atmosphere is wonderful. But those things don't make up for the so so food and high prices.
