Set up in the old Sonic I was kind of curious what to expect from this little restaurant. My co-worker and I originally intended to try and eat here but our office is right across the street and it is really difficult to try and cross so we elected instead to go to Pier 49. As luck would have it the place was slammed; big family gathering, and they just got in so they were barely ordering. This did not seem to great for us since we were on lunch. Well, kudos though, we turned around and headed to the Patio Grill.
First off the service was fantastic! We were given the option of sitting inside and at first started to but realized we'd be all by ourselves, and part of the whole thing was the "patio" seating. So we turned around and found a location outside that gave us a little sunshine, it was slightly chilly that day but they have the patio heaters so that took off the chill. Our server AJ was awesome and very attentive and always had a smile for us. We noticed that the other servers had a similar demeanor.
I decided to go with the usual standby and ordered the Bacon Cheeseburger and fries. This is ala cart so there wasn't a "meal" per se and you had to order things separately. This isn't dissimilar from most other burger joints so I wasn't bothered.
The burger was well cooked and very flavorful. The fries were tasty and of a good sized portion. They also had fry sauce that appeared to be scratch made and well seasoned.
My companion's meal was similar minus the bacon and she said her's was just as good as mine seemed to be. Now let's be honest, burgers aren't difficult but you'd be surprised how many places I've been to that they are just lame, over/under cooked, poorly spiced etc.
All in all a fantastic first impression and I plan on heading back. They also have a "Seafood Boil" that they run on Friday and Saturday nights. Think a Low Country Boil- seafood, corn on the cob, and red potatoes . This is a common staple in the south and one I look forward to trying out!
For less than $10 including the tip, lunch was great, we had great service, and we look forward to returning. Pretty much the most you can expect from a restaurant in my opinion.
