“One of the better Thai Restaurants in Utah”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 5, 2014

We've been going her for about 9 years. This used to be our favorite Thai restaurant in Davis county. Recently we've found the Thai rod dii in Layton. It is closer to our home and the food is a little better and the portion sizes are much more substantial.

Based on the review of 1Ray, it looks like the place has been updated since we last went. We usually visit for lunch after going to our dentist but we've been for dinner quite a few times also. Almost everything we have eaten there has been really good. We've always been treated well. The prices are very decent. I hadn't realized that there was a different owner for a period of time.

I have no idea what 1986drmoo is talking about. It sounds like he's talking about the wrong place.

“Scenic!!! Gourmet Dining”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 26, 2013

Snowbasin Ski Resort has awesome restaurants and all the food is excellent. The dining rooms at all 3 on site restaurants are beautiful and elegant, its hard to believe us wet, snowy skiiers are allowed to clomp around such a fancy place in our ski boots.
The best of all is the Saturday night buffet at Needles, a restaurant on top of the mountain. You arrive and park in the lot at the bottom of the mountain. Then you are shown to the gondola, an enclosed, heated ski lift that seats 6 people. It takes you up to the restaurant, while you enjoy the beautiful sunset view. Once at the restaurant, you are treated to long buffet of delicious delicacies, while being pampered by waiters & wine stewards.

“Old”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 17, 2013

First, I have been going here for about 12 years. In that time they went through three owners. The last owner moved down the road to Clearfield as the Wasatch Wok and the Five Star Restaurant is now under the Original Ownership.

They redid the inside of the store (which was getting a *bit* tired) and took out the center divider so it is now essentially a large open room. I count enough tables and seats for about 60 diners. One problem is that the walls and ceiling reflect the sound and being more open now, 60 people talking could echo badly. Tables are nice, about eight three person high tables along the two sides with windows, a couple of two person tables in a corner and the rest are standard square tables (look like real wood, heavily varnished). The decor is rather sparse compared to what it was.

Thursday (a Furlough day for many on Hill Field) 15 August 2013 at 11:00.

First off, the staff is very friendly and being the first and only for most of the meal, diner, they were very efficient also.

The menu is a bit different than before, but close to what it was in the past, with a defined Thai lunch/dinner combination mea section as well as the Chinese section.

I chose the PAD PIK GANG lunch with plain rice and Hot and Sour soup.

The soup was normal on spicy and less sour (which I prefer) and loaded with solids like veggies and some ground meat (sausage?) and tofu I believe. Do not know if I got the first dip of the day and later dips would have less solids. A nice start to the meal.

Not too long after the soup was finished I received the rest of the meal. The "egg roll" was a bit small, but nicely packed with a some meat and cabbage and maybe some other veggies and rather tasty too.

The rice. Most places charge you extra for anything but highly hybridized and processed long grain white rice. This rice was a bit shorter than normal modern long grain, was not highly polished (the brown line was visible), was bit softer, and had a nice taste. About 2 cups worth.

The Pad Pik Gang (chicken). A bit spicy, probably 1.5 cups worth, just right for the rice amount since I pour it over the rice. It was good but seemed to be lacking something from before.

Prices. For lunch with rice, soup (not included in a take out order), egg roll, and entree for $5.95 with 30 Chinese and 16 Thai dishes to choose from. The prices on normal entrees look normal. Drinks are stiff, $2 for soda, coffee and tea but you do get refills and there are some specialty drinks for $3 and $4 with no refills (no alcohol listed). I stayed with the water.

As of this posting you can see more in a menu at http://www.fivestar.qwestoffice.net/ .

Recommended as an alternative to the other seven (nine if you count North Clearfield) Asian style cuisines in the area near the Roy and West gate sections of Hill AFB that I am familiar with. I will be going back to try a few other dishes and compare them to what they use to be.
