Old Rock Church Bed & Breakfast
Ranked #1 of 1 Providence B&B and Inns
Reviewed August 4, 2012

The Inn is very quaint for an old church. Loved the sitting rooms and breakfast parlor. We stayed in the Victorian room and enjoyed the romantic atmosphere. Because it is such an old building, it does have a little bit of a musty smell, but that is usually to be expected. Got used to it quickly. Delicious breakfast. Very pleasant, good service and hospitality.

Thank you for staying with us and coming all the way from Afton, Wy. We were delighted to have you with us. We work very hard on our famous made-to-order breakfast and are very glad you enjoyed it.
Yes, an 86 year old building (the Old Rock Church will be 146 this year!) will have it's quirks and we are doing our best to correct any odor issues associated with such a historic property. Thank you for letting us know and giving an honest review.

Come see us again soon!

I wanted a nice place for my husband and me to celebrate our anniversary. This was the WRONG place to choose. I booked online and paid extra for the anniversary package. We was put in the wrong room, the sparkling cider was sitting in the corner where you could barely see it and it was warm. The glasses we were supposed to use was next to the toilet as was the ice bucket. When we went down to breakfast, we sat there for 15 minutes and finally we had to tell them we was there, she said she would be right in, we sat there for another 15 minutes and had to go remind them again. She said she had forgot we was there. The breakfast was ok, She got most of the order wrong, but at that point we didn't care, we just wanted to get out of there. When I called to tell them we was unhappy, she had all kinds of excuses as to why we was treated that way, it felt like she was blaming me for all the problems. She said that they was busy and they had a wedding there that day. If they are too busy to handle this they should get more help. They made us feel like we didn't matter. We will NEVER return to this place and we would NEVER refer anyone there either! There are much better places for a much better price.

Dear Bonnie,
We are very sorry that you feel this way about the Providence Inn. Our records show that you booked your own room online, which was the Colonial (309). Accordingly, this is what we prepared for you and your husband, with the Anniversary package as instructed.

It was noted in the account that you came down and spoke to our staff after going to your room. You informed the staff that you had intended to book the Old Mill Pond room (304). We would have been happy to move you to the Old Mill Pond, but it was already occupied.

It seems, in your eyes, a series of unfortunate short-comings occurred on our part and we are sorry for your frustration. We regret that you feel your stay with us was unsatisfactory.

Your response is not the normal response we hear. We are very dedicated to our guests' comfort and relaxation with a highly trained staff who love the historic elegance and peace that the Providence Inn provides.

We hope that this response and attention to your concerns would invite you to come stay with us again.

We had the opportunity to stay at the Providence Inn while in Logan for a family member's significant birthday. What a treat to stay at such a well kept bed and breakfast inn. As with most B & B's it has charm and ambiance. My husband and I had our wedding ceremony here 39 years ago and it was nostalgic to see it once again. We were impressed with the improvements and additions that have been added. The Bridal dressing room area is beautiful along with the cascading staircase into the chapel!

The service was impressive along with the delicious breakfast in the parlor. The servers were so accommodating and friendly...truly amazing especially in this day of fast food service. We had a leisurely breakfast and spent time walking around the well-kept grounds, looking at the artwork and reading about the original "Old Rock Church". The rooms are very spacious with a jetted tub and definitely make you feel like you are stepping back into a more "gentle and relaxed" era.

Definitely worth visiting and feel like it is a must visit B & B.

I've stayed at this place a number of times, and I can honestly say it's one of the most lovely places I've ever stayed before. The service is irrefutably excellent, and the rooms are incredibly quaint. If you're in Logan, it's definitely worth the six-minute drive to Providence to be able to get a unique, non-Marriott experience.

Very disappointed. I agree with the other yelper - decor makes me feel like I'm at a grandmother's house. Or worse - a nursing home. The whole place really needs an update. The queen beds were not really queen beds (too small), at least by today's standards, which shows you how old the beds are. And they felt old! Bedspread was old. The room smelled funny. Shower was jerry rigged. Cheap body products in the bathroom. And the chocolate chip cookies were NOT fresh. Breakfast - really good whole wheat toast. But margarine!?? Who serves margarine anymore??!! The rest of breakfast was about on par with Denny's. The apple french toast sounded good, but when you got it, you realized the apples were anything but fresh (even though it's prime apple season and Utah's best apple orchards are just down the road). They seemed like the canned kind of apples that have a gelantenous sugar sauce on them. If you're used to old run down motels, maybe this place would score high in your book. But not in mine. Definitely not worth the money.

Room Tip: try out the beds and pick your room based on that

Located on a quiet street a few minutes from "downtown" Logan, this B&B offers a good alternative to the run of the mill hotels in the area.

I booked the English Cottage, and it suited our requirements - a large comfortable suite, ground floor with no rooms above it, and direct access to the car park out the back. As mentioned in other reviews, the room furnishings were a little "tired" and the dire warnings of imminent overflow of the toilet somewhat worrying. Nevertheless the room was comfortable and afforded a good night's sleep.

The primary reason for my low score is breakfast. For me a B&B is at least 50% about the breakfast and I expect something a bit better than what I can get in a diner down the road, Alas, this was not the case at the Providence Inn, where not only was the breakfast menu unimaginative, but the food was not very good either. My expectations based on fond memories of other similarly priced B&Bs (most notably the wonderful Bluemont B&B outside Luray Virginia a few years ago) were sadly dashed.

Oh, and if you do stay there, be aware that your Garmin (and perhaps other) GPS will take you to a location several miles to the south when you key in the address of 10 Main St. The PI is actually on the corner of Center St and Main St, with the carpark off Center St.

We stayed in the Providence Inn for the evening of our anniversary. We spent the day canoeing down the Bear River (very enjoyable!), and the Inn was a convenient, enjoyable stay. We reserved the Bridal Suite because it seemed to be away from the other rooms, and we were interested in privacy. It didn't disappoint in that regard. The room was large and very pleasant, with a jetted tub large enough for two and a little balcony leading out from the bathroom (kind of strange, but when you're remodeling an old church I assume you work around the original architecture). The room was decorated with the Mormon ideal of bridal bliss...all in white, including white carpet, which was a bit stained and shabby. The entire room was a bit shabby, in fact, and could have stood some new wallpaper and a coat of paint. It was cozy and enjoyable, though. The free chocolate chip cookies (freshly baked) were a great touch, and breakfast was fantastic! We ordered it in bed. Can't beat that. Cons: high price for the area, and could use a freshening-up.
