“Powderwood Perfect”
Reviewed November 8, 2005

I had read the reviews before staying here and had mixed feelings about what my family and I would find. Staying at the PowderWood Condos was an absolutely super experience!!!

We stayed in a one-bedroom and got a terrific price for the off season. The condo was immaculate, tastefully decorated, very clean, quiet, and they even offer covered parking for your car. Daily maid service is not a problem (not offered in off season) as there were more than enough towels, etc.... for our week stay and the unit was equipped with a washer and dryer in case we had run out. The kitchen was fully equipped and a grocery store is very close if you choose to cook any meals. The master bedroom had a huge walk-in closet so you had a place to store luggage while there. It is also within walking distance of the outlet malls if you want to shop. The only thing that they did not offer was a hair dryer like most hotels do these days but other than that the place was A++++++. Thanks!

After reading previous reviews, my husband and I were very concerned. The property manager assured us that we would have a very nice and clean condo to stay in with our two children. It was a beautiful two bedroom with two full baths that had been completely remodeled and updated including hard wood and tiled floors, new carpet, all new quality furniture and appliances. We had a mountain view and were close to the outdoor hot tub. It could not have been nicer. It's understandable that some of the owners have not updated their condos or taken as good of care of theirs as others have. If it's really cheap, maybe that should raise some red flags. Ours was great and convenient. We would love to stay there again.

Having previously stayed in up-scale pricey condos that were ski in / ski out we were very pleasantly surprised when we arrived at our inexpensive Powderwood Unit in Building 1. The Décor  Lovely, comfortable and clean (Better than the pictures) Kitchen  Fully equipped (above and beyond our needs) Extras - DVD player, Washer/Dryer, TV with both Cable and Satellite in case one of them went out  which has happened every time we ski in Utah. Hot Tub  we used the outdoor one and had to drive to it  it was very nice and actually HOT. Although a car is not a necessity - I strongly recommend you rent one. We will definitely stay here again  it was a great deal!

We walked up to our unit to find that our outer door, made of the standard metal for screen doors, was "kicked out" as if someone kicked it from the inside really hard ...the metal edges were lifted out from the frame, thus making it quite dangerous with a nice gaping hole! MANAGER'S RESPONSE:he knew about it for a week, but the handyman has yet to fix it. We get inside and it is SMALL & TINY! we had a 2br+2ba+loft for 6 people. There was not enough room for our ski/snowboard equipment...we had no place to walk at all!!! One bedroom was a good size with a king and a walk-thru closet...the other bedroom was tiny with 2 twins..it was so small that one of the twins is situated right in front of the closet!!!! you would have to climb over the bed to get to this closet!!!!! RIDICULOUS! Everything from fixtures, furniture, and appliances were so dated. FYI----THE BEDS ARE EXTREMELY OLD, THUS VERY SOFT WITH NO SUPPORT!!!!! YOU SINK RIGHT IN! The upkeep on this place was non-existent..the towel bar in the shower was broken off, the fluorescent light in the bathroom would flicker out-of-control for a while before it would stop, leaving you dizzy and aggravated! There were also dead bug carcuses around!!! The bedding - sheets, blankets and skirts look and felt so old & dirty...on our blanket, there were trails of paint as if someone just stood on top of the bed and blanket while "touching up" the ceiling. MANAGER'S RESPONSE TO SIZE MIS-REPRESENTATION: we never stated what the size or square footage of the units were...this unit that you have can sleep 10 people! So I said: "WHERE ARE WE SUPPOSE TO WALK THEN?" His response to that was: it's not my problem..but look how many people can sleep in this unit (their GREAT SELLING POINT!)!!!! BASICALLY, it just felt quite TINY & dirty overall. This place would be great for a FRAT getaway with 10 guys drinking out of some keg...(hmmm, possible culprits for the nice KICKED OUT METAL DOOR?) On a more positive note, management did try to accomodate us however they possibly could by seeing if another unit was available...but we were already settled in the first dump for 2 of 4 nights and couldn't wrestle the energy to pack up all our stuff and groceries, with no promise that the other unit will be that much better. GOOD LUCK!

Looks great in the photos, but not quite as advertised. Large spaces are nice. Plus a full kitchen. But beware: No air conditioning. A bit of a bug problem, too. Management is not interested in service, either (they charge you $25 for a non-emergency phone call). This was as close to roughing it as you can get. We cut our staty there short to stay at the beautiful, comfortable, and accomodating Grand Summit Resort Hotel: Highly recommended! They have it all...full kitchen, large spaces, and AIR CONDITIONING!
