“Viking Yurt Dinner - A Must Do”
Reviewed March 20, 2009

A few weeks back, while on a girls' weekend, a group of us were fortunate enough to have the experience of taking a Snowcat-drawn sled up a mountain and have a 5 course gourmet dinner at the Park City Viking Yurt and all 8 of us agreed - the experience was just magical. I had actually been to the yurt dinner back 5/6 years ago with a work conference and found it truly wonderful then - but this past time was just as nice if not better. It had snowed most of the entire day of the our dinner, so the sleigh ride up the mountain was beautiful and once we arrived at the yurt and seeing it all light up there in the woods - it was like it was from a fairy tale. We all also enjoy the terrific meal and the beautiful piano music that was played on the baby grand piano. While this experience isn't cheap - $ 157 per person in total, when you factor in that this experience is 4 - 5 hours in lengh, has a wonderful sleigh ride, music, and gourmet dinner - we felt it was a great value. Would I do this experience again if I had the opportunity? Definitely!

“Fun experience; worth the price”
Reviewed January 10, 2008

The food is probably 3.5 star, but the chef has no water or electricty with which to work. We had an excellent tomato/artichoke bisque, duck with potatoes and carrots, sorbet, cheese and a blackberry mousse for dessert. Everything was very tasty--the duck was only average, and I would have preferred fresh fruit instead of dried with the cheese, but overall it was very palate pleasing.

The ride up the mountain is fun, but cold! Despite their claim that they provide blankets for the ride up the mountain, that isn't enough! Definitely wear a hat, scarf, gloves, heavy coat and long johns under your jeans, especially if you choose to snowshoe to dinner.

It's not a good fit for children--it lasts 4 hours and they probably won't like the frou-frou food. But it was a great experience, with beautiful views, big stars in the sky, a roaring fire and great views on the sleigh. Worth a visit!
