I loved the atmosphere. We only had the fried chicken, but it was very good. The service was polite and prompt.

The Purple Sage was recommended to us by a local. The restaurant is really pretty, especially the patio area. Good wine list. None of the food was outstanding, good or bad, it was all just....average. The only standout was the soup of the day - corn chowder. Crawfish Cocktail appetizer very chintzy - 6 tiny crawfish, tortilla chips and salsa for $13 - not worth it. The fried chicken dish was good, as were the mashed potatoes and bacon fried greenbeans. The squash ravioli was inedible. It was swimming (drowning?) in oil. not even sure why oil would be used in ravioli preparation. It was NOT GOOD. Expensive and would not recommend.

Try the duck- excellent! Went on a tip from the concierge and she was more than right, thanks Susan. Good atmosphere and service. Very enjoyable evening.

This restaurant gets great reviews on Yelp and Tripadvisor...the menu sounds amazing...we had great expectations!

We were a party of 7 that they easily accommodated in the summer on a Friday night.

Based on the reviews, 2 in our party got the Braised Bison Short Ribs-one associates "braised short ribs" with juicy and tender. This was maybe the toughest piece of meat I have been served in a restaurant EVER. I understand Bison is lean-but the only thing that made it edible was the flavor (which was good) and the potatoes that came with it. We needed a steak knife for short ribs...there's something wrong.

No one else raved about their meal-at the table we had the beet salad, the duck, the chicken tamale appetizer, and the pork soup.

The service was good-but not great; they were not very personable over all. This restaurant is going for the foodie client-they have missed the mark big time.

My mouth watered when I read the menu description for the roasted pork tenderloin. Alas, the food itself didn't live up to the menu. My pork tenderloin was dried out and overcooked. The whiskey and molasses sauce was one dimensional and cloyingly sweet. However, the maple whipped sweet potatoes were outstanding and almost silky in texture. The steamed snow peas were amazing. But what was supposed to be the star of the plate was just not very good. My sister had the meatloaf, the house specialty, and found it to be ok. The Purple Sage needs to spend more money on a decent chef and less on the flowery menu writer. The service was ok but nothing special. I didn't care for the atmosphere of the place; it was more bar than bistro. There was no atmosphere to speak of. For the quality of our food, it was pretty expensive--$80 without appetizers, alcohol, or desserts.
