Even though we weren't staying there, the front desk manager gave us a tour of the different room types, for a future visit. The Elk steak was excellent as was the cheese fondue. I would strongly recommend it, having dined in many of the top places in Deer Valley.

We went to the Goldener Hirsch Inn for a late Lunch on a day off from skiing and were very happy with the experience. The wait staff was fantastic along with everyone else that works there. Nothing but top notch service! I went with the bratwurst combo for lunch and my wife had the weinerschnitzel ... they even had nice choices for the kids! The food was very good, they have a great beer selection, and we really enjoyed our experince. We even returned for apres ski one afternoon for the happy hour and had a great time by the fireplace. This is a place you must try if you like the cozy german / austrian experience along with great beer!

We had dinner at the Goldener Hirsch Inn as part of an overnight package with the hotel. The restaurant is small but comfortable and romantic. The staff did a pretty good job in spite of being busy. The menu was not extensive but with adequate choices of appetizers and main dishes that were described as gourmet entrees. With top reviews and awards we expected a great meal. We had their wonderful cheese fondue which was served with bread, apple slices and broccoli. One could make a light meal of it and maybe we should have. We also ordered the Weinerschnitzel and elk flank dishes which were underwhelming. The veal was very thin and crispy but lacked the expected buttery, lemon flavor. The elk was cooked well but the portion was small and lacking flavor. A neighboring table ordered the same and they said they would not be likely to order either again. We had the bread pudding and apple strudel for dessert. We really enjoyed the warm, apple-filled crisp pastry but the bread pudding left us flat. Overall, our expectations were not fulfilled. Rather sad if it's the best in Park City!

The Goldener Hirsch is a lovely inn at the Deer Valley resort. The Inn has about 24 rooms and is very nice. The restaurant, however, leaves little to be desired. We were told by the concierge at another hotel that the Goldener Hirsch was a family friendly Austrian restaurant. Since we wanted to try something different, we decided to give it a go with the two boys, age 9. The service was terrific and our waiter was attentive, however, the menu was very avante garde and while there was a children's menu, the food that was served to the boys was not edible. My son's pasta with butter was overcooked and the macaroni was sitting in about an inch of melted liquid...sure didn't taste like butter. He ate one bite. We ordered the fondue for an appetizer and it was just perfect, but expensive. Along came the entrees and we were sorely disappointed. Specifically, my husband ordered the Kobe steak. Its stringy consistency indicated to us that it was previously frozen for a long period of time. Kobe beef is the creme de la creme of meats and this was not even close to good. My friend and I shared the lamb shank and it was so salty and overcooked that we just took a few bites and were done. Honestly, we both had stomach issues for the rest of the night.
