Description: "Where's the beer? Where are the breweries?" Those were among the first thoughts Greg Schirf had after moving to Utah from Milwaukee in the early 80's. Incredibly, drinking and brewing were all but forbidden. Greg took matters into his own hands and did what any self-respecting midwesterner would do: He started a brewery. Wasatch was the very first brewery in Utah - and one of the first craft brewers in all of the U.S. - brewing award-winning brews since 1986. In 1988, Greg Schirf proposed another bill to the Utah Legislature making brewpubs legal in Utah and opened the first brewpub at the top of historic Main Street in the resort town of Park City. Wasatch continues to misbehave, turning out naughty beer after naughty beer year after year.

If you're looking for something casual & affordable this is your place. We got the nachos and shared them (the plate is enormous). The beer is great. Good casual apres ski place to eat.

While we went to Wasatch on a Friday night, the service was almost painfully slow. We went because a friend's friend had heard about it. Tried the beer, more that were mediocre than good. The Polygamy Porter is a cute name, but it lacks the depth of a good porter. The Premium Ale was very good, as was the brown ale. Others seemed watered down in a sense, even the "Hopalicious" cask-conditioned ale.

It's decent bar food, but their menu wasn't properly updated - all kinds of inviting options with pulled pork, only to learn that they had pulled (no pun intended) it from the menu without changing the actual menu.

If you're into beer, go for a taster or two, but I'd go elsewhere for good food and service. Oh, and if you like one of the tasters, buy it from the cooler at the entrance. Just to open a bottle at your table (you'd think it was wine) ups the price by half to 2 times.

The beer is great but that is about it. The menu could use a facelift and is quite boring and tasted bland. The refurb of the restaurant is so loud that I couldn't hear my family talking right next to me. The seating is uncomfortable and crowded. I really enjoyed the old atmosphere but now it is sterile. The service was marginal- we waited for our food for 25 minutes, which is a lot in a brewery. Who is managing now that decided it wasn't good how it used to be? The old wood and nooks for seating were very nice and kept it more intimate and the noise levels tolerable. Awful experience this time round. My chicken bacon sandwich had 1 slice of bacon on it and the side salad was about 1 cup of greens with 2 small slices of cucumber on it!!! What is going on over there.

Hi annpc,
We are sorry you didn't have a great experience at our Brew Pub. We appreciate the feedback. After the fire, we felt it was a great opportunity to open the restaurant and bring in more light. We will pass the service and food issues onto the Managers and Chef so we can address these. We We hope you will dine with us again.

Cheers!
Heather L.

The beer selection was great here - lots you never hear of otherwise and a couple on nitro and cask-conditioned. We got some burgers and guac - nothing big to right home about but still good. Service was great too. Always come back when I'm in town.

Ok so that was a little cheesy but you know what was really cheesy? The scrumptious jalapeno macaroni and cheese entree we tried last week at Wasatch Brew. So creamy and delicious. We also tried the hot wing appetizer: spicy and good. Three in our party had dressed up hamburgers. Lots of toppings available for $1 each made for expensive burgers at $16 but they did look and taste like Heaven. There was a long wait but shorter than predicted. We occupied ourselves with the nitro creme ale, apricot hefe, evolution red ale, a regular hefe, and the very unusual jalapeño creme ale. A real scorcher! While you can see the brewery behind the bar the atmosphere is not that of a brew pub but a restaurant that makes beer. The interior was light and bright and so was our waitress. We had a good dinner here and would definitely return.
