This is a place we visit several times every time we are in Park City. The routine is always the same.....hike one of the trails and then our reward is lunch here at about l:30 or so until we finally leave about 3:30 or so....and then many times we just sit with friends in the seating area of the gorgeous Stein Erickson Lodge. We love it. It is beautiful here with the aspens blowing softly and you are seated on the deck overlooking probably one of the most pristine vistas in all of the country and for sure in Utah. This past Wednesday we were there and vowed to order something a bit different from the usual which is always a burger with the most delicious fries and onions and for dessert one of their marvelous collections of homemade gelatos or whatever chocolate the pastry chef has created. This year there was indeed a new menu and frankly I am glad I stuck with the burger....but the rest of my family tried and LOVED the new items...specifically a Caprese salad made not with the usual cheese but with orzo and parmesan and my husband had mussels with sausage. The breads are wonderful, desserts did not disappoint and at the end of the meal there is no rushing you to leave and the excellent staff invites you to relax and will bring water and coffee until you finally get up reluctantly to leave. There is construction ongoing to get here so take the Marsac Road (the road you take to get to Guardsmans Pass) and NOT Royal Street drive which is the longer and twisty way up there. This is a special place and well known and appreciated by locals and guests staying there but also worthy for a visit at least once for lunch and dinner if you are not worried about the drive up there. Highly recommended.
