“Return trip was equally good, showing consistency in all areas.”
Reviewed February 20, 2012

After having a great stay previously, we returned a month later, finding all of the positives from the last trip present again. Customer service is obviously a priority, with front desk and concierge among the best we have had. The rooms are very well appointed in mountain-themed design and very spacious. Overall, I would return to this property again and again. They have demonstrated good consistency. The onsite Ruth's Chris is a big plus as well. Prices were good during the summer season.

Room Tip: All the rooms are good.

My husband has had a seminar here for the last 4 years and our stays have been very pleasant.
It's an easy 30 minute drive from Salt Lake City Airport and there are shuttle services provided either private or public.
The staff at the Hotel Park City are all welcoming and friendly.
They have a very large lodge-type lobby that is open and bright with direct viewing of the mountains, pool/jacuzzi, and cross country tracks. It is furnished with large overstuffed leather and heavy fabric chairs/sofas and lots of quiet nook areas to sit or read with a cup of Starbuck's coffee, hot cider or hot chocalate which are provided for the guests to self serve. The afternoons have someone playing the grand piano and makes for a lovely ambiance.
The outdoor heated pool/jacuzzi has a firepit with heat lamps and is a relaxing way to spend some time admiring the view.
The hotel has endless activities that can be provided by the concierge with the main focus on cross country skiing with the on property ski shop for private tours, lessons, and equipement rentals/sales.
There are shuttle services with stops in front of the hotel that can take you anywhere in Park City. I enjoyed riding into the historic town with quaint shops and tons of places to eat or drink.
Within walking distance to a Starbucks, food market, drug store, liquor store, and restaurant named "Squatters Brewery" for excellant, reasonably priced breakfast, lunch or dinner.
The restaurants that are located in the hotel are "Ruth Chris Steakhouse & Bar (we like eating in the bar which has a wonderful menu) and the Banannas Bar/Grill(11A-4PM).
We had a delux suite which is laid out with a entry hall, bathroom off the hall, bedroom to the left, step down living area with kitchenette and large floor to ceiling windows with a french door leading out to a balcony with panoramic views of the mountains.
The bathroom is ceramic/stone tiles with one sink, large tub/jacuzzi, large shower with 3 showerheads, and a separate toilet enclosure. Bathrobes are provides with plenty of fluffy towels.
The bedroom area has a heavy wood, raised bed with double white comforters and big pillows, The area is open to the livingroom and views. There is a dresser with a flatscreen TV and desk in the room as well so the bedroom area seems a bit small.
The livingroom is furnished with a leather sofabed, chair, large wood sofa table, an electric fireplace with flatscreen TV above it.
The kitchenette is in the living area and is completely equiped with a small refrigerator, microwave/convection oven, dishwasher, surface burners, sink, dishes and cook ware - everything needed to prepare a meal and it's all built-in with surrounding granite countertop and stone tile backsplash.
Also, there is a closet with a washer/dryer off the hall.
We especially love the view at night with the night ski runs lighted and a BIG pine tree has beautiful red lights which sits right behind the pool so all the rooms in the hotel have this view at night - it's really cool.
They do per day resort fee of $17.00 (for parking/gym use) and the 10.45% lodging tax on top of the hotel rate can really add up.
It's a nice option for people that like a hotel with the convenience of a condo. There are cottages that work out well for families. Very warm and comfortable.

Scenic view, great rooms, fantastic suites (2 bathrooms, kitchen, large living room), quiet, golfer's paradise
Supermarket nearby
On the negatives: a little bit outside town, small pool

To be clear, Hotel Park City is not a ski-in/ski-out resort. It is a short shuttle ride from the 3 main mountains (Park City - closest, Deer Valley and Canyons). We skied all 5 days at Deer Valley (read my separate Deer Valley review to see why), and the hotel provided a convenient free shuttle every 30 minutes from 8.00am to 10.00am.
The Good:
We stayed in a Cottage Executive Suite (cottage 3, room 425), which had a good-size double bedroom with (very) vaulted ceiling, a living room with small kitchen and sleeper sofa (we paid extra for an additional rollaway bed for our 2nd child), bathroom (bath and large shower), large walk-in closet and outside deck with personal hot tub. Fixtures and fiiting are high end, and the room certainly had the feel of luxury accommodation. They did try to pack rather a lot of furniture into the unit, which gave it a rather cramped feel. Some of the cottages are a longish walk from the lobby, but just call the front desk and they send a shuttle over to pick you up - super convenient.
Staff are extraordinarily friendly, and I must give a special shout out to the concierge, Jude, who entertained our 7 and 8 year olds every morning, with silly stories and funny YouTube videos.
The communal pool and hot tub are beautiful and not heavily used (we were the only ones in it one night, which made us feel like royalty).
The Not So Good:
Complaints are minor, but, added together, were just enough to take the shine off an otherwise fabulous stay: (1) breakfast items ordered from the menu (i.e. not from the buffet) often came to the table cold, (2) the hourly shuttle back from Deer Valley failed to show up on one occasion - they did finally send one after we called, but neither the telephonist nor the driver apologized for the inconvenience, (3) our suite had a washer and dryer (great!), but a very limited supply of washing powder - each time we asked for extra powder, we were given ONE little box: just seemed a bit stingy for a $500/night hotel.
All-in-all, a wonderful stay. If you are not worried about ski-in/ski-out, but want luxury and proximity to slopes and town, Hotel Park City is certainly worth considering.

Didn't stay at this hotel, but had a lesson for cross country skiing here. Had never done this before, and Michael, our instructor, was great. Upbeat, funny, encouraging, gave us all the tips I think we needed. Had an hour and a half lesson, then he set us off on our own on one of their tracks. Thought the price was reasonable, the instructor great, the tracks adequate for our needs, and the whole experience was very fun. Prepare to fall a lot though!

Made reservation in August for the week before Christmas. The first week of October (2 1/2 months before Christmas) I had to cancel. Hotel nailed me for 1/2 of the deposit which amounted to a sum of $711. No matter how nice the hotel, don't stay here unless you are absolutely sure you can make the trip. I have stayed in the best hotels in the world and have never dealt with a policy like this.

I'm a picky traveler..."discerning" would be a better word. I stayed at Hotel Park City in January, and I couldn't find one bad thing to say of my time in Cottage 444, with a view of the mountain, overlooking a pond with diving ducks.
I was overwhelmed by the look of the room when I unlocked the door for the first time- spacious and upscale in decor, ruggedly classy I'd call it. Granite counter tops in the kitchen and both bathrooms, fine and very clean appliances, including a washer & dryer, plush bedding and a fireplace under the flat screen TV in the totally cozy bedroom, and another fireplace in the family room are all features that made the cottage feel like I really lucked out with my hotel choice. The outside deck with the large hot tub and fireplace confirmed it. Every detail to this place was well-planned with the vacationer in mind. This cottage was likely the nicest room I've ever stayed in all of my 44 years. I paid about $350, though rooms were going for $800 online at the time.

The only thing they need to do in order to get a perfect 10 rating instead of a 9.99 from me would be to add an iPod or iPhone dock or connection to the Bose stereo system. The radio reception there is terrible and was the only music option.

Suggestion: If you stay here and get a cottage (there are 4 to a building) I would recommend you request a 2nd-floor unit. If you're on the first floor and the unit faces the street or entrances, you will have little privacy, especially in the hot tub. Having a 2nd-floor unit made a HUGE difference in privacy, and therefore, in enjoyment.

Room Tip: Get a 2nd-floor cottage if you want full privacy in your personal hot tub.
