“Great Hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 23, 2011

The Lodges at Deer Valley was a cozy hotel within walking distance of the lifts. The rooms were very nice but the beds were extraordinary . Breakfast was included in our stay and it was by far, the best hotel breakfast we've had. Think: breakfast pizza and unbelievable Belgium waffles -- the perfect beginning to a workout on the slopes. The front desk had DVD's for us to borrow as well as a Scrabble game. We will definitely go back.

Went for a quick weekend of skiing due to great early season conditions. Lodges staff is very helpful and friendly. They have their own fleet of vans to drive and pick up guests wherever they want to go in town or skiing in Deer Valley/Park City area, so you don't have to take the regular shuttle or bus. If you feel like walking, the base of Deer Valley Resort (Snow Park) is a short eight minute walk away. Room was nicely decorated, spacious, nice sheets, and fully equipped kitchen. The daily breakfast (included with room rate) is what I would call a Continental Plus. There is the normal pastry, breads and fruit as well as juice, coffee and other beverages, but there is also make your own waffles, and a special hot dish daily. The lobby is a very warm and comfortable place to hang out and drink hot chocolate after skiing too. I would highly recommend this property and will definitely stay here again. I might even consider purchasing a place here.

We've stayed here many times since we started skiing in Utah. The rooms are spacious, bright and extremely well-appointed. We rarely eat out while there and have had many memorable meals with family and friends. The kitchens have been great - good appliances, all the cookware we need, lots of room for moving around, etc. The bedrooms are very comfortable and quiet. We usually get a 2 bedroom place which sleeps 6 in beds (a queen in each bedroom and a pullout couch in the spacious living room) and occasionally more on the floors. The staff is happy to bring you extra bedding on request. Our kids love to hang out in front of the fireplace - their favorite place for reading apres-ski. The 2 bedroom comes with 3 full bathrooms including a whirlpool-tub in one of the rooms. The unit even has a washer/dryer in a laundry closet!
We stayed in a 3 bedroom unit once. Although it was nice to have the extra bedroom, interestingly the living room/eating area is smaller so now we always go for the 2 bedrooms and have some of the kids sleep in the living room. Our sons like this better anyway because of the fireplace.
The breakfast is pretty standard: lots of muffins, bagels, pastries, yogurt, cereal, eggs, etc; but they do provide several varieties of egg-mcmuffin type sandwiches which come in really handy on the lifts.
There's a well-equipped fitness center on-site right next to the outdoor heated pool/hot tub area.
It's super easy to get to the Snow Park Lodge lift with multiple shuttles and the city bus always running. I don't recall ever waiting more than 5-10 mins at most and usually much less. Sometimes we'll even come back to our condo for lunch and head back out for afternoon skiing. The staff is super friendly and you can even buy lift tickets at the front desk. Our kids love the area out in back where they can sled, build snowmen and just play in the snow. Parking is underneath, heated garage and always lots of large spaces really close to the elevator.
In short, we have invariably found our stay at the Lodges to be really like a home-away-from-home. Highly recommended!

We stayed here on a business trip for four nights. Located five minutes away from the Deer Valley slopes, the hotel was really beautifully decorated. Free shuttles to and from Main Street in Park City, which is very convenient. Garage, ski vallet and general store all off of the main lobby. Free hot chocolate and apple cider dispenser in lobby. We did not use the outdoor pool and hottub, but I was told it was nice by someone else in our group.

PROS: Lodge condos were HUGE - Three bedrooms, four bathrooms with balcony, large living area, dining area and full kitchen. Wonderful ski lodge decor with rustic wood, several fireplaces and oversized furniture. Flat panel TVs with digital cable everywhere and DVDs, VCRs and radios in every room. In room washer and dryer with detergent, board games in closet, plenty of extra pillows and blankets. Daily maid service and good earth friendly amenties. Clean, spacious and very comfortable. Daily free continental breakfast was very good - several bagels, muffins, cereals and milks, several juices, pastries, hot buffet, make your own waffles, hard boiled eggs and several yogurts. Had a catered meeting and the food was also very good.

CONS: One computer with a requested ten minute time limit does not a business center make. There is no actual restaurant in the hotel - they do provide a free continental breakfast and room service, but there is no sit down restaurant on site that I'm aware of. MAJOR CON was the gym facilities - dark basement, no windows, old machines. Get your workout on the slopes. Hairdryer was so loud and vibrated so much I thought I was operating a jackhammer. During peak times, it was difficult to get the bellmen on the phone to get a shuttle back to the hotel and the bellmen often were difficult to understand.

At Deer Valley, I would highly reccommend Kerry Duncan at the ski school. I took two lessons with him and I was skiing! He was very patient and was great at interpreting how best his student would absorb and interpret his instructions.

As far as food, I would highly recommend Wahso pumpkin soup, Chimayo's ribs, Bistro 412's salads and Java Cow's ice cream! All on Main Street.

I came to this hotel for a conference, not really expecting anything, and it turn out to be quite nice. When I heard of their winter rates, later on, I was appalled, as it's definitely not worth the money.

All in all, everything was nice and clean, with the staff being somewhat helpful.

My only gripe would be the abhorrent smell, which was there for at least 2 days out of the 4, on the entire floor of my section of the hotel. I've complained to front desk, they've sent a maintenance guy, who went to check the fireplace (and no, it was not the smell of natural gas). He said he will look into it, and that's the last I've heard/seen of him. The smell never went away...

The speed of the wireless Internet is HORRIBLE.

We expected a hotel - it is more like a timeshare place. The first room was horrible - no real window, after complaining, and an addtional $50 per night we received a nice condo instead. The breakfast is in a convernce center setting, no real plates or silverware. No roomservice. No Hotel bar or restaurant. Not a good place for couples, would probably come back with a large group or family on a small budged (in Deer Valley terms) since the units are set up to accomodate a lot of beds/pullouts.

Had a 2 b/r apt and was there during the peak season so I payed much more than I should or it is worth. It a great place to stay if you want to ski at Deer Valley, otherwise it's very isolated . Maintenance were very slow to respond, I had to call 3 times and wait overnight to have the fireplace ignited. The same thing happened to have a light bulb changed, but 3 guys turned up at different times. Housekeeping sloppy at times and the buffet breakfast consist of a minimal selection. Will only stay there again if it is at half the price I paid.
