Westgate Park City Resort & Spa

our experience was very mixed at this resort.
Pro's
If you're not familiar with the Park City area ( like us) The Canyons is a sort of suburb about a 10 minute drive away from Park City. It is fantastically convenient to Salt Lake City Airport (around half an hour), in fact i cannot think of another ski resort that is so accessible to an airport (and we've skied around the world)
Good location, walk outside a hundred metres or so and you're at the gondola/lifts
Rooms fine, very clean, very 70's decor. We had a combination of 2 rooms connecting, so one room with king bed, jacuzzi (in bedroom) steam shower, well equipped kitchen, lounge with TV and dining table. Other room had a queen bed, sofa bed, kitchenette, steam shower room. Perfect for a family of 5.
Fantastic transport shuttle service, including friendly and courteous drivers. My husband dropped some money on the seat in the van and the driver found us to return it.
Lovely indoor/outdoor pool area, and hot tubs.
Well maintained facilities
Cons
Other reviews have mentioned the layout. It was beyond complicated, to get to the swimming pool we had to use 2 lifts in 2 buildings, and navigate corridors and corners. Clearer signage would be helpful.
Often i asked staff for directions, and they were equally clueless. I think there had been a massive staff hiring campaign just before we got there, everyone was new and none of them knew where they were going (we were taken to the wrong room with our luggage by a porter)More time should be spent on staff training.
We booked our trip on vrbo, a site i have used on numerous occasions with great results. On check in, we were given the run around that they didn't have our reservation and lots of huffing and puffing about us using a '3rd party booking agency' it was made clear they were not happy about this arrangement, we were then told policy had changed and we would be charged to use the shuttle service, as this was clearly included in what we had paid for, there ensued to-ing and fro-ing with the upshot being we didn't have to pay extra for it, although presumably the owner did? Throughout this very long and painful check in process it crossed my mind that the staff were unwelcoming. We had arrived from a very long trip from the other side of the world with tired kids and made to feel like second class citizens because we had booked on vrbo! WT..
I would have swallowed this attitude as someone having a bad day, however when we were checking out i heard this very same conversation being repeated to another gentleman checking in (no reservation record, extra charges etc). He was an american, and i told him we had been subjected to the same rigmarole, so it was obviously not a one off attitude. Perhaps this should serve as a warning to any potential owners, it has certainly put us off coming back.
The hard sell to get you to one of their timeshare sales pitches is unrelenting, we had no interest in going to one, however, every time we went into the bar or restaurant there would be someone outside with the same old shpeel. I asked if the resort sold lift tickets and was sent to an office where the young man told me i could get 2 free tickets if my husband and i attended the sales pitch. No, they did not sell lift tickets, so why was i sent there? to my mind this is this just distasteful.
This resort is good, it has everything you need for a great ski holiday, however, the corporate hard sell seems to be priority no.1, and lack of staff training didn't sit well with us. We'll definitely be back to Park City, we just loved it, but not to this resort.

Thank you for your feedback. We are happy that you found our location to be very convenient. Thank you for also acknowledging the cleanliness of our rooms and grounds. It’s great to see our staff was honest and helpful. Guest satisfaction is our top priority and the issues you experienced are not our usual standard of service. We hope that you will give us another opportunity to go beyond your anticipations.

One of my sons, our friends and I (14 of us total) just returned from our 3rd annual trip to Westgate Park City Resort & Spa. We have been skiing together for about 15 years in Colorado and Utah. Once we visited Westgate Park City Resort & Spa, we have not gone anywhere else on a ski trip. I have also taken my wife and three boys there for family trips. The Westgate team went out of their way....even to accommodate our large group. Their staff is well trained, very friendly and considerate. Accommodations are very nice, comfortable. Drafts Pub is great for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Edge, the resort's high end steak house, won rave reviews from our group. Ski shop on property, ski valet and walking distance to the gondola make this an ideal set up for serious skiers, or beginners and families. The Westgate team is dedicated to creating experiences for their guests that turn into lifetime memories. We will be headed back next year.

What a great resort. Westgate has been my resort of choice for several years now and it continues to meet and exceed my expectations. I go to Park City every year on Super Bowl weekend with a group of friends and we will not stay anywhere else. All of our rooms were clean and ready on time for check in. There is turn down service every night. The rooms were cleaned every day. The staff was friendly and helpful. The general manager even stopped by our table while we were eating at The Edge and asked about our stay. It is this attention to detail that I believe puts Westgate over the top. You can tell that the staff really cares, and they do everything possible to ensure that your stay is perfect. We ate at Drafts Sports Bar and The Edge Steakhouse, which are both located at the resort. We liked the variety on the menu so much that we had a hard time choosing what to eat, so we returned to both. The food was off the chart. There is ski valet service, so you don't have to carry you skis out to the lifts....even though the main gondola is only a 30 second walk away. There is a great buffet breakfast for $15.95 every morning. I also visited the spa and had a great massage. There is an indoor/outdoor pool if you have kids. There is an adult only "relaxation pool area" with a hot sauna, steam sauna, and hot tub. We visited the hot tub and saunas every day and they were always clean and working properly. Great Location......Great Food......Clean Rooms......Comfortable Beds.....Top Notch Service. I am trying to think of a negative to include, because when I read reviews I tend to disqualify the ones that are 100% positive, but in this case I can not think of a single bad thing to say. It even snowed part of the day on 4 of the 5 days we were there. Simply put, there is not a better place to stay in Park City. Period.

My husband and I look forward to our annual ski trip to Park City each year. We have owned at the Westgate Resort and Spa for over 5 years, and we keep coming back each year because we love it so much. The 3 ski resorts that we look forward to skiing each year are Park City, The Canyons, and Deer Valley. Although they are close in proximity to each other, the each have their own personality, and we love all of them! We own a one bedroom Grand, which is perfect for a family, and great for a couple if you like a little room to stretch out. The king sized bed is so comfy to sleep on, and you have your choice of many pillows adorning the bed. The jacuzzi is perfect for a romantic evening, and the shower is exceptional with the steam. We move right in and feel right at home on the very first night. A side-by-side refrigerator, a full stove with oven, a dishwasher, washer/dryer, lots of cupboard space, all the utensils and kitchenware you can ever need, all make it seem like home. At night you won't hear a peep from any of your neighbors. We are thrilled to own a peace of heaven in Park City, although it was a bit pricey.

I stayed while on business during the Sundance Film Festival and although there was a cleanliness issue with my room when I checked in it was was resolved immediately and the rest of my stay was very pleasant. It's true, the layout of the hotel is a bit of a maze but as I spent most of my time off the property it wasn't an issue. Was a bit disappointed there wasn't a bathtub but the sauna in the shower made up for it. The shuttle service was amazing and the staff, except for one of the drivers, are professional, helpful and very pleasant. Worst coffee on the planet both in the room and in the on site store which is a little pricey but has a liquor store with state prices. Didn't get a chance to try the restaurants but will next time. I'd stay again if I were to return to the festival. FYI, I'm not a skier.
