“Great Location, but no A/C and a bit dated.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 4, 2012

We came for a visit to Park City over Labor Day and spent the night at "The Lodge". This hotel sits right at the base of Park City Ski Resort so you have walking access to the lifts, the alpine slide, the alpine coaster and other summer activites at the resort.

Luckily the temperature was only in the 80's and cooled off to the 50's at night or we would've baked in the room since there is no A/C. Definitely more of a winter hotel as A/C wouldn't be needed during the ski season.

We stayed in a one one bed room with a small kitchen that overall was spacious. The hallways and lobby are okay, not quite what I would expect for the "posh" and expense that is Park City. The pool is okay with two hot tubs and an indoor portion and outdoor portion. It is small though and got easily crowded. The water did seem a bit salty (don't really want to know what that was about) and we had to request more towels even though we were there in the morning.

I'd stay here again but never is the mid summer (PC is only about 10 degrees cooler than Salt Lake City which can frequently have triple digit temperatures during July and August) and I'd not pay more that $85 a night.

Thank you for your comments on Trip Advisor. As you can understand being at the base of the mountain we are fully equiped for the ski business and we hope you make it up here in the winter. With no A/C I can fully understand how this can be an incoveinence however as you stated the temperatures were comfortable during the day, this is typical year round.

Thanks again,

my husband & i booked the lodge @ mountain village in park city, utah partially because of the "positive" reviews i previously read on trip advisor.

we were in park city in late july for 3 nights. daytime outside temps were in the mid to high 60's with partly cloudy skies. very comfortable for our hiking! overnight temps had dropped into the high 40's to low 50's range according to our car thermometer.

we checked into our room at 3 p.m. the thermometer on the wall indicated the temp was 84 degrees and that was with a portable floor A/C unit running full tilt.

we went back to the front desk to tell them how hot & uncomfortable our room was and they offered us a box fan. we set it up in front of an open window and it ran 24/7 during our stay.
the lowest temp ever registered in our room was 74 degrees and that was on our final night.

we spoke with the manager who explained that each unit is individually owned. he worked for the management company who runs the property. the room itself was very tastefully furnished & decorated. the bathroom was an inside room (windowless) and was extremely hot as there was no way to cool it down with fan or cross-breeze . we left the bathroom door open at all times, even when we were occupying it.

i think the rooms at the lodge would be very cozy in the winter after skiing all day, but it was much too hot to stay in the summer.
we did not try to find other lodging as we knew that there were few (if any) vacancies left in park city during the time that we were there.

I would like to thank you for taking the time to let us know about your most recent visit to the Lodge at the Mountain Village. I can fully understand your frustration with the quality of sleep that you did not receive due to the above average temperatures that we have encountered this year in Park City. As a mountain community we experience extremely mild temperatures therefore a majority of the the units at the lodge are not supplied with an air conditioning unit. If your plans bring you back to the Park City area I can assist you with reserving a unit that is equiped with air condition.

Thanks again,

I stayed one night and only one night because everything else was booked for the day. This was August 3, 2012. Man was it hot. I thank them for giving me a very large suite with two bedrooms but man was it hot. There were three box fans that I had going all afternoon and night. It sounded like a B-17 taking off. I had to sleep with no covers until it cooled off about 6:00am the next morning.

The room could be really nice with new furniture and fresh paint. The furniture had lost most of its cushion.

The rest of the lodge could use a freshen up. It is old and you can tell it. The elevators looked like many a ski botts have passed through them.

It is definately a winter resort. But for the summer? It is worth staying 30+ miles away because of the lack of A/C. And especially for charging me $150.00 for a good nights "wake".

Room Tip: Go somewhere else.

Thank you for your feedback concerning your most recent stay at the Lodage at the Mountain Village. I am disapointed to hear that your stat was not up to the quality of standards that are set at the Lodge. As I can understand your frustration with no A/C in the room upon an extremly unseasonably hot day in Park City, usually with the cooler weather A/C is not required in many of the units. I will also make sure to pass along to the owner of the unit in which you stayed your concerns about the decor in the unit.

Again, I appreciate your comments, and please feel free to call me directly if your plans bring you back to the Park City Area.

We stayed in a one bedroom condo with a bed that pulled down out of the wall. We were there in July. You're right at the Park City Mountain Resort with all the activities - alpine slide, etc, so the location is terrific. However, we won't stay here again. First, there is no A/C. It was cool outside with cloud cover, but the room was very, very hot. It's apparently well insulated, and there are no windows to open to get a cross-breeze, nor is there a box fan to pull in the cool air. You can open the door to the balcony, but the balcony is joined to the room next to it with a low wall, so someone could come over pretty easily. So, we didn't feel safe leaving the door open while we went to dinner to cool off the room. Second, the bed is uncomfortable. It dipped in the middle, low quality and/or long-used. Third, there is a lot of furniture packed into a small room. Wasn't bad until we figured out we had to move it all to pull down the bed. There was then no room to walk or even sit on the couch. Fourth, the table on the balcony was broken. Beware if you try to put anything on it. The condo was nicely finished as far as tile and fixtures, kitchen, and wifi worked fine. But overall for my birthday weekend where we wanted to stay at a nice place in the mountains, it was very disappointing. The only reason to stay here is if you want to be close to the slopes and don't mind being squished into a room.

I was disappointed to hear about your displeasure with your stay at The Lodge at the Mountain Village. It is apparent that you reserved one of our smaller units which are not designed in spending an extra time in the units. The Lodge however does have units up to 4 bedrooms that provide extra space. If your plans ever bring you back to the Park City area please feel free to call me directly to assist you in booking a room that will exceed your expectations.

The staff here was very helpful and when we called for someone to check on the t.v. they were there within 20 minutes. This is a very nice establishment and everyone was very friendly and helpful. My only complaint is that there was NO air conditioning!!! We had to leave our room by 10:30 every morning and not come back to it until 8:00pm or later . It was so hot in the room that you felt like you couldn't breathe, and made me perspire profusely!!! For such a wonderful place and sitting right in midst of the beautiful surroundings, one would think that there would be air-conditioning. This is the 21st century, after all.

The you for your comments posted on Trip Advisor for your most recent stay at the Lodge at the Mountain Village. I can understand your frustration with no A/C in the room on an exremly unseasonable hot time in Park City. Usually under noraml weather conditions in our mountain community A/C is not neccessary in the units. However, I do apologize for any discomfort that this may have caused. I am glad to hear the you were able to enjoy the resort and Park City during your stay.

NO AC is the first thing you notice; then you go looking for the bed. Keep looking until you find you've got to pull it out of the wall and eat up what little space the small room had left.

Put this on top of a dismissive and uninterested staff, and you have problems in this supposedly upscale resort community.

No sweeping.

TV not working.

And the lovely staff blame it all on whatever the condo owners have chosen not to put in.

The advertising from this place is way not close to what reality drops on you.

Maybe in the winter, if you're a ski fanatic, you'll put up with some of this. Certainly not for us again.

I was disappointed to hear about the challenges of your most recent stay at the Lodge at the Mountain Village. It is apparent that you booked one of our studio suites which is one of our smaller units. Also, being a part of a mountain community we generally are blessed with much cooler weather that enables the units not having to provide air conditioning. I can understand your frustration during this unseasonably warm summer for Park City. Should your travel plans bring you back to Park City please do not hesitate to give me a call and I can assist you in booking a room that will far exceed your expectations.

We have traveled to Park City every summer for the past three years have have stayed at The Lodge at the Mountain Village every time. It's right at the base of the mountain, has a great variety of rooms, and the summer prices are amazing! Lots of restaurants and the amusement area is super fun. Only downside is the rooms are a little hot, we had AC but the room was still too warm. I did notice that the heat was on in the hallway, even tho it was 85 degrees outside. Even so, great staff, great prices will bring us back again.
