“enjoyable experience”
Reviewed August 3, 2014

We stopped for appetizer and drinks but stayed for a late lunch/early dinner. The restaurant terrace was closed for wedding so we sat on bar patio. It was better, I think. The view was better and we had a lovely breeze. The Utah Mimosa was wonderful and went down way too easily. My husband ordered Chasing Tail light ale which he thought good enough to order a second. I had the grilled chicken Caesar salad. My chicken was slightly overcooked but retained good flavor. The salad was dressed just right. I hate soupy salads! My husband had the Sichuan Pepper Crusted Yellowfin tuna. He thoroughly enjoyed it. We did not notice that all menu items were ala carte and think the server should have made suggestions to us. We also enjoyed the warm chocolate cake and Carmel ice cream with popcorn and peanuts. Our server was attentive without being intrusive. We plan to go back!

“Making the regular people feel incredibly special”
Reviewed July 29, 2014

Thanks to Bruno and staff for making the four of us enjoy a very special dinner on the patio. As rain was threatening, we ended up being the only table out there and that was a treat! Although we are not the most well-heeled customers they've seen, they didn't make us feel out of place. When I commented on that, they said that every customer is important. I'd order the heirloom tomato salad anytime just for the onion rings that accompany it. And, Johnny was a great help in assisting our wine selection. We learned quite a bit. Thanks!

“Not Up To Par”
Reviewed July 28, 2014

We dined at the J&G Grill last weekend to celebrate the birthdays of my partner and one of her best friends. We have dined here several times, and this was certainly not what we've come to expect. As this was a special occasion, we were certainly let down with the experience.

First, we arrived at the restaurant on-time for our reservation, however the table was not ready so we headed to the bar to wait. While there, our party ordered drinks, but two of the 4 drinks ordered went back because they tasted off compared to the same drink on previous visits.

After 30 minutes or so, our table was ready and we moved back to the restaurant. We had a beautiful view on the outdoor deck, but things continued to slide after that. Half of the bread brought to our table was stale, or almost so. The mussels smelled off as they were set on the table, and after 2 were tasted, it was confirmed, so those went back. Two of our party had the Caesar salad, which tasted bland on what looked like frozen lettuce; one wasn't able to finish more than a couple bites. We also tried the maitake mushrooms as a starter, and that went back. We also had the tuna tartare appetizer, which was a high-point in the meal.

For main entrees, we also tried the snapper, which was passed around the table and agreed to be very bland; again sent back. The Shetland salmon was also not very good. The yellowfin tuna and short ribs were the best of this course.

Around this time, the manager came to our table to discuss our experience. This could've been a chance to save the experience, but he instead chose to passively argue with us that "everyone has different tastes" and therefore we were wrong. Other than our experience with him, the rest of the staff seemed friendly, though perhaps a bit inattentive for a restaurant claiming to be of this caliber.

We've certainly reconsidered our dining options in Park City, especially for special occasion meals, and St Regis and J&G Grill is now off the list. Look elsewhere for a better meal with better service, you have lots of options.

“Great Special Occasion Experience”
Reviewed July 22, 2014

You could make an entire evening out of a trip over to the St. Regis. We actually stayed overnight, but it's only 2.5 miles from Park City, so an easy drive. Take the funicular up the mountain and plan to be at the outdoor bar before 6:30 in time to enjoy the champagne toast and see the sabrage. Then have dinner at J&G - and be sure to order the short rib. Step outside to the fire pit before 9:00 and you can DIY s'mores for dessert. Great evening!

“The best in Park City”
Reviewed July 17, 2014

The St. Regis and the J&G Grill are amazing. That's it. Hands down. Service was impeccable, the view outstanding, and the food was great. Now, this isn't New York. They got their sauces a little wrong, and it's not the French Laundry. But it was reasonably priced for the St. Regis, and the veranda with the lit fires makes you not care that much. The atmosphere and the service makes this a great romantic dinner and a perfect place for apres-ski. For large groups or friends, head downtown to Silver or Zoom.
