“Eat, Drink and Learn”
Reviewed December 12, 2013

On my first visit to Park City, we went on a High West Distillery tour and had multiple drinks and appetizers there.

The tour was so interesting from both whiskey making and local history. Then after the tour we got to taste all of the different ones and apply what we learned. I would highly recommend taking this tour.

Once the tour is over, go to the restaurant and stay for either dinner or apps and more drinks. The bartender makes a great cocktail and the wine and beer selection are fantastic as well. Definitely order the pretzel appetizer with the beer cheese, pickles and mustard. You might need to order 2.

Dear Kate…

Thanks for sharing your recent tour experience at High West and posting a photo of the tasting. Education is a key component of what we do here which, as you mention, are both whiskey and historically focused. Additionally, we appreciate your comments on our hand crafted cocktails and house made pretzels. They are certainly house favorites.

Please swing back on in on your next visit from Chicago (winter is shaping up nicely) and thanks again for posting your 5 Star review on Trip Advisor!

Cheers…

“Getting Better Each Visit”
Reviewed December 11, 2013

They take reservations but you had better make them early. Most of the time the wait for seating is about 30 minutes and the bar area though crowed is nice and the drinks are really good - yes even in Utah! The service is very good and friendly. The menu has some interesting items: try the Shis???? Peppers as a starter. The only con about High West is the crowed area for eating.

Dear fuz13…

Thanks for sharing on Trip Advisor your thoughts around High West. As a Park City local, we know you have many dining and bar options in town and appreciate that you include High West in your rotation. The Shishito Peppers are definitely a house favorite and we do try to keep our menu diverse yet approachable to our guests. And while the Livery dining room can be bustling this time of year, guests can always request to be seated in the house portion of our facility which allows for a more intimate and quiet dining experience.

Thanks again for posting your review and please let me know the next time you’re in as we are always looking to connect with our regular customers.

Cheers…

“Love the cocktails!!”
Reviewed December 11, 2013

Don't miss this place if only for their innovative cocktails. My favorite is the High West Lemonade. Went with a bunch of friends and got to sample a lot of different dishes. Really tasty eats.

“Love it, love it, love it...but we are a bit biased”
Reviewed November 25, 2013

We have a house in Park City and the High West is on the same street. It is our favorite local place to visit. I am not a whiskey fan, but my husband is and he LOVES the Campfire Whiskey. I appreciate the wine that they serve. The food is soooo good. In the summer, the beet salad is really delicious (and I don't even like beets), the burgers are really great, but our favorite meal is the Elk Medallions. Oh my goodness...melts in your mouth good. We always bring our company over to try it out. Part of what I like about it is it's low-key atmosphere. You don't need to dress up, but the service is always great. It does get busy on the weekends during the ski season, so plan ahead!

Dear gutzj01...

Thanks so much for being "neighborly" and taking the time to post a 5 star review on Trip Advisor. We appreciate the specific feedback and "inside scoop" on the whiskey, wine and food (specifically the elk). We've changed a few things for the winter; all new wine list with awesome wines of discovery as well as an elk rack that is receiving great reviews from those loyal to the medallions. And the whiskey, specifically the Campfire, is as delectable as always.

We look forward to welcoming you back to High West when you're in town and please ask for me when you're here. I'd appreciate the opportunity to meet you in person.

Sincerely,

Ted Russell

“A menu with a whiskey twist”
Reviewed November 4, 2013

We went to the 4:00 distillery tour. It was very interesting. We then walked around town and came back around 6:00 for dinner. It had gotten pretty crowded, but we only had to wait about 20 minutes for a table. They seated us in the bar area. High West consists of 2 buildings. One is the main dining area for the restaurant; the other is the bar area. They're connected by the distillery.

I think every menu item had whiskey in it some kind of way, which I thought was pretty unique. We started with cocktails - a horse's tail and a peach sour. Both were good. The cider braised short ribs with mashed potatoes were the tenderest ribs we ever had. We then shared a burger and fries. The burger was topped with whiskey caramelized onions and cheese and was very good.

What we really went for was the dessert - a pairing of whiskeys and chocolate truffles. I was disappointed in it. Except for the silver western I thought that the rye whiskeys were too strong for the chocolate.

Dear atreg...

Thanks for your review and specifics and taking the time to join us for a whiskey tour. Thanks also for coming back for dinner. The Short Rib is certainly a house favorite as is the burger and we're pleased they satisfied your appetite. As for the whiskey chocolate pairing, we're sorry they didn't meet your expectations. We're wondering if perhaps your received a pairing with Double Rye (strong spicy rye whiskey) instead of the Rendezvous or Campfire as they should be. Regardless, we appreciate your feedback and we'll be taking a look at all of our desserts as we retool our winter dessert menu.

Thank you again for investing the time to share your experience on Trip Advisor and for taking advantage of so much of what High West has to offer guests here in Park City. We look forward to welcoming you back on your next visit from Louisiana and will be working diligently to create a 5 star experience when that happens.

Sincerely...
