Owner description: Discover Park City's history at the Park City Museum on Historic Main Street. Prospectors discovered silver in 1868 in the area that soon after became Park City. Mine owners made fortunes, while thousands of miners simply made a living. After silver prices declined, Park City reinvented itself as a ski resort town. Interactive displays tell the Park City story in an engaging manner. Fun for the whole family! Open 7 days a week (Mon-Sat 10-7, Sun 12-6).

This is a great little museum. It can easily be toured in an hour or if you are like me and enjoy reading all the signs can take upwards of 21/2 to 3. There are some very well done interactive exhibits, that kids (and adults) can enjoy. Don't miss the jail with the talking wanted posters! It does a great job of recapping the history of Park City in a fun and informative way. It also didn't sugar over some of the town's less than flattering. We had nine in our party, with 4 kids ages 8-15; all of the kids loved it. It does cost money but I didn't think it was unreasonable; kids under 6 are free, kids 7-17 are $5, adults are $10 and seniors over 65, students and miliary personel are $8. It's right on Main street in downtown Park City.

A small museum with a big story to tell. Easy to navigate and full of the rich history and people who developed Park City.

Nothing beats a day off skiing than to browse Historic Main St. in Park City and a visit to the Park City Museum. Sit in a RR Car, discover how the west was developed, step into the one and only skier's subway, drill for silver, and learn all about Park City's rich mining history. An authentic Territorial jail tells about many of the colorful characters in Park City. Learn about Utah's Silver Queen, who made her fortunes in Park City Mining investments and 4 rich husbands. Hands-on, great for kids, fascinating for adults, and a fabulous gift shoppe. Definately a do not miss if you visit Park City, UT.

Wonderful hour+ historical entertainment/ education for a 9 year old. Authentic setting and displays helps to define the history of Park City long before it became a ski destination. The original jail was a hit!

This small museum is housed in the old territorial jail, so the building itself is historical. It has some interesting interactive exhibits, and tells about the history of Park City in an entertaining way. The real highlight is down in the basement, where the jail cells are. Cool and a bit spooky down there!
