Owner description: Discover Park City's history at the Park City Museum on Historic Main Street. Prospectors discovered silver in 1868 in the area that soon after became Park City. Mine owners made fortunes, while thousands of miners simply made a living. After silver prices declined, Park City reinvented itself as a ski resort town. Interactive displays tell the Park City story in an engaging manner. Fun for the whole family! Open 7 days a week (Mon-Sat 10-7, Sun 12-6).

“Great place for the curious!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013 via mobile

Wonderful hour+ historical entertainment/ education for a 9 year old. Authentic setting and displays helps to define the history of Park City long before it became a ski destination. The original jail was a hit!

“a great overview of Park City's colorful history”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

This small museum is housed in the old territorial jail, so the building itself is historical. It has some interesting interactive exhibits, and tells about the history of Park City in an entertaining way. The real highlight is down in the basement, where the jail cells are. Cool and a bit spooky down there!

“Interesting Small Museum”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2013

This museum is much larger on the inside than it looks from the street. It does a great job of telling the Park City story from boom to bust and back to boom.

There is a section on mining and the people that it attracted, which is pretty interesting. In the basement, the old jail is still intact. It is hard to believe how small the cells are. They also have a mining car that converted to a ski lift for the first several years of the resort's existence. Pretty unique.

I thought an interesting display was a video of Park City old-timers talking about the bust years.

There was a special exhibit on mail delivery during war. I am not sure how this ties into the Park City theme.

Overall, worth seeing to understand the town.

“Not a Little Girl Thing”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2013

I took my granddaughters, 10 yrs. & 5 yrs. old, to this museum. The ten year old liked the scavenger hunt. The 5 year old was frightened in the basement jail. Boys would like the mining drill and dynamite displays, but it didn't appeal to either girl that much. This museum is great for an adult, however.
