“Clean and a good deal near Bryce”
Reviewed September 22, 2013

My husband and I stayed here for two nights on a trip to Bryce Canyon. The hotel operator was very friendly and helpful. Our room was basic, but clean and the bed was surprisingly comfortable. There are new flat-panel tvs and Direct TV in the room along with Wi-Fi, which was great. The rooms are a bit dated and the bathrooms could definitely do for a renovation, but they are clean and functional. My biggest issue was the shower, which is a small one-person stall, which I would be ok with, but the shower head is installed such that anyone below 6 feet tall has to stand practically against the back wall to get the water on their head. I'm sure that's an easy fix if they just did a quick re-install of the shower head... There is a cute ice cream shop across the street with delicious ice cream. One warning about Panguitch in general, if you are here on a Sunday, pretty much the entire town is closed ALL DAY. So find somewhere near the park to eat all your meals. Even the grocery store is closed!

The motel is well situated, at +/_ 30 minutes from Bryce Canyon. The price is good. For the price, the room we had was well furnished but the furniture is a bit "old". The curtains and the bed cover had some small holes. The air conditioning and the heaters are efficient. The WIFI is excellent and TV is modern with ample choices. The room was clean.
The motel is closed to he 2 Panguitch supermarkets + some restaurants (we tested only one restaurant for our 2 nights). The room we had is a bit noisy. We were right in front of the Highway. This did not really disturb our sleep.
We would sure return to this motel.

Room Tip: Ask a room at the back side ....

This motel located on the main street is very basic. We stayed in two of the newer rooms which face the street. They were clean and comfortable. The only thing missing was a nice fluffy pillow. The property is located in the center of a town filled with interesting buildings and businesses all within walking distance. The owner of the property is a delightful lady who couldn't have been more helpful.

Room Tip: Rooms to the right which face the street are newer, larger and quieter.

We stayed here for two nights while visiting Bryce Canyon National Park. We were looking for something cheap, comfortable and clean and Church's Blue Pine, for the most part, met our expectations. Located right off the main road in Panguitch, the property is within walking distance of most restaurants in town and is a typical single story motel. Our room had one queen bed, a table and 2 chairs, small shelf area to put some items and a dresser with a large TV on top, as well as a bathroom. It was dated but appeared clean and spacious enough for two. The TV gets DirecTV and had tons of channels and the free WiFi was fast. The owner checked us in and was friendly and helpful. The room had separate heat and AC units and both worked well.

The bathroom was fairly large but had no electrical outlets and very little counter space. The shower head could not be moved up or down, only left or right, so I pretty much had to face the corner or get sprayed in the face the entire shower. My husband, who's much taller than I am, didn't have that problem, though he shared my frustrations with the hot water, which took about 5 minutes to warm up. We would turn on the shower then leave the bathroom, coming back several minutes later to check on it and, in one case, having to come back a second time.

We had a lot of trouble keeping the mattress cover and fitted sheet on the bed. Neither of us move around a lot in our sleep and there was no physical activity that could explain the problem or I wouldn't mention it. We'd go to bed with everything in place and around 3 or 4am, find that the mattress cover and fitted sheet on either my side or his had come off the mattress. No idea why. Other than that I thought the bed was comfortable but my husband did not.

We were in a room that was closer to the road, so we heard a lot of road noise. I'm a light sleeper and take ear plugs with me when I travel so it wasn't really an issue. If you're a light sleeper and don't like ear plugs, though, you would want to either get a room toward the rear of the motel or not stay here.

The room was clean, but because everything was so dated, including linens and the carpet, it had a slightly grimy, unclean feel. I didn't see anything that made me think the room wasn't adequately cleaned, it just had that unmistakable feel of many, many, many other bodies having lived inside it.

We spent most of our time at Bryce so didn't check out the property too much. And though some reviewers seem to have been charmed by Panguitch, we found it depressing. We traveled through many small Western towns on this trip and we live in Iowa, where the concept of a tiny town seems to have been founded, so we're familiar with the look of a thriving small town vs a dying small town and from what we saw, Panguitch is dying. Many store fronts were shuttered and/or out of business. We saw a lot of homes that were in desperate need of repair or demolition. The only stoplight in town is just a blinking red light at the main intersection. Every restaurant we walked into was like that scene in "My Cousin Vinny" when Joe Pesci and Marisa Tomei walk into that restaurant and every single patron turns their head to stare. We were clearly outsiders, which was odd considering how dependent the town is on tourism. Obviously none of this is the motel's fault but it didn't help, either. The town was not charming, it was depressing, and for the first time ever, we actually wondered if it would have been better to have stayed in one of more kitschy places near the entrance to Bryce.

The rate was good, our drive to Bryce was fairly short (15 minutes) and for the most part our room met our expectations, but we stayed at a few other budget properties on this trip that exceeded what Church's Blue Pine offered at the same rate. The bathrooms are in need of updating in several ways, the rooms are past ready for some new carpeting, linens and furniture and the road noise was annoying at times. It wasn't the worst stay ever but it could have been better and we'd check out other properties in the area if ever we were in Panguitch again...and (sorry Panguitch) I sincerely hope we are not.

The owner is very friendly! We took a room with two queen size beds, with a small fridge, coffee machine, microwave, flatscreen, table and two chairs a table. The bathroom has a tub.
Because we stayed two nights, we got a discount. Recommend staying here if you are visiting Bryce Canyon.

Clean and comfortable in the heart of Panguitch...everything is within walking distance! Either run the AC or bring earplugs as the highway through town is run by coal trucks all day and night so it is noisy. Bed was comfortable, shower good and ample space in the room.

We were on motorcycles so when we asked for rags to wipe down our bikes after a rain, they gave us a full bucket and were happy to give them to us again the next day all cleaned!

Room Tip: Rooms 8 through 12 (I think) face the highway; all the other rooms are further away.

This was a very nice clean, quiet motel! Conveniently located in town for shopping! The Cowboy Smoke House is right across the street and you can smell that wonderful oak and ribs being smoked there! Motel management is "Second To None" I highly recommend this motel!
