“Perfect place to recouperate”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 16, 2013

We stayed in the Barn for 4 wonderful days in early June. I wondered if I had made a mistake booking so many days of our 2 week adventure in Southern Utah. I am so glad I did. We needed to rest and acclimate to the high altitude and this was the perfect place to do it. If we had we been in a regular motel, I wouldn't have rested. I loved sitting on the porch and watch the cattle roam from pasture to pasture at the ranch next door and to see the calves frolic around. We really enjoyed the visits from Jesse. What a wonderful dog. I especially thought it was great to go inside the chicken coop and get my own eggs! They were so fresh and tasted so good each morning. Relaxing in the cozy Barn was very easy: wonderful decorations, towels, sheets, everything. We are so glad we stayed here. Out of our 2 week trip, it's the Ranch we talk about!

My son, his friend and I were traveling cross-country to LA and planned a two night stay outside Bryce Canyon NP. I did a lot of research and picked Cottonwood Meadow Lodge. We loved it. We stayed in the Bunkhouse one night and the Barn another. The furnishings are upscale with a western flair and include nice sheets, darling kitchens, fluffy towels and rockers on the porch. It is nestled in a quiet place with a running stream, horses in the field, yarrow in the garden and red hills on the horizon. The varied accommodations fit all sizes. It's a peaceful, old-fashioned vacation and a perfect spot to rest after a day at Bryce or Zion. It's all because of Jan and Jerry's attention to detail, friendliness and spirit. I promise you it will touch your heart and stay with you long after you leave. The Ranch is an easy 15 minutes from Bryce and a hour or so from Zion. Both are spectacular scenic drives.

We just left the Bunk House today and already miss it! Nothing beats hiking all day to return to the solitude and beauty of the Cottonwood Meadow lodge. Sitting on the porch with a cup of tea, petting precious Jessie, listening to the chickens and watching the horses - life doesn't get any better than that. You couldn't ask for better hosts than Jerry and Jan. Everyday, we had cookies waiting for us in the Bunk House - freshly made by Jan. Jerry supplied us daily with eggs from the chicken coop. Both are very gracious and full of personality! Make sure you stop and get a bag of carrots and apples to feed the 3 horses! Make time to explore the property and capture the beauty with your camera.
The lodge is a perfect base to work out of for Bryce, Escalante Grand Staircase and Zion. All restaurants Jerry recommended were delicious. If we find southern Utah in our travel plans in the future, you can bet that the Cottonwood Meadow Lodge will be our place to hang our hats.

Thanks for helping us check one off the 'ol bucket list! Our dream was to ride Byrce Canyon on our own horses and you helped make the dream come true. We were welcomed by an inviting fire in the beautifully appointed Farmhouse - Jan has outstanding taste and attention to detail, the house is a showcase of rustic country charm. Our horses were right out the window nickering to their neighbors. The riding around Bryce is fantastic - Losee Canyon, Butch Cassidy Draw, Willis Creek or just saddle up and ride out the back gate to Grand View or Thunder Mountain. You could easily spend a week or so and never ride the same trail twice. The ride in Bryce was the most memorable in my life. The fishing was great as well in feeder streams to the Sevier River. Jan and Jerry are incredible hosts - enjoy the farm fresh eggs in the morning, decadent cookies freshly baked, pet the numerous critters and dip a line in the river that runs through it! Hope we can return soon and worth the 16 hour drive from California.

This is a great find. It's a bit of a drive from Bryce but that is a good thing - those motels did not look nice. Get your groceries ahead of time and enjoy making your own food. You are in the middle of nowhere and that is wonderful and very special. We stayed in the log cabin and out the front door was a couple of acres, including horses and beautiful sunsets. One night we enjoyed a campfire under the most spectacular stargazing. The owners are great and brought us cookies and checked on us, which was a nice touch. It's probably on the higher price side, but you make up for it by making your own food in the kitchen and it was truly a wonderful unique experience. We loved our four days there and would recommend it highly. We also enjoyed tubing down the river. It was a bit adventurous and I flipped out which could have been bad, so don't let your kids go unattended and be careful. The dogs and cats on the property made it even better. Well done. Book early as there are only a couple of options for houses.

We loved our stay here with our 9 month old son. Great to have your own space to sit and contemplate the surroundings and the day's hike. We struggled to find nice accommodation in the area but landed on our feet here. Great hosts, fresh eggs....and dare I say it, fresh ice-cream!! Really enjoyed getting home and letting our son roam around the chickens, cats and the friendly dog..education on the go! Really could not have asked for more...with the possible exception of the bed..which didn't quite feel level or that comfortable. That being said the day's hike soon solved that problem!

I booked a stay based on the rave reviews, but my experience did not match up. The fireplace was broken, platoons of dead flies littered the floor (and live flies were equally abundant), and the homey touches such as fresh eggs supposedly delivered in the morning didn't happen. I'd have really liked a set of keys to secure my belongings while I was out during the day but had to leave the place unlocked. Both the facilities and the service were below expectations based on the Lodge's website and reviews. When the cleaning fee is factored in, this is not an inexpensive stay and in my experience, not worth the price.
