The Ogden Nature Center gives you a sense of what the Ogden/Salt Lake City area must have been like before the onslaught of suburbanization. It's a delightful mix of wooded areas, grasslands and wetlands, all in a relatively compact parcel of land. The waking paths are nicely maintained, and you're likely to see some lovely wildflowers. Definitely worth a visit if you like nature and you're in or near Ogden.

The ONC always has programs going on all year, and has some free events and workshops over the summer for the kids. From informative buildings, plaques, and vistas, to exploration, workshops, demos, and instructionals.... this place has an array of things to do for the whole family.

This is not a big building stay inside kind of place. Plan to walk the trails, enjoy the displays and live creatures. It is amazing how much of nature and wildlife you will see in this urban get away. A nice gift shop with many local artisans wears. They do lots of activities thru the warmer months, so try to stop in then!

I like taking my grandkids here for a day adventure. Not only do they have a zoo of the native animals of the area, but they have great hiking trails and look out towers.

It also is a great place to come and volunteer. There are staff members who welcome any help you can offer.

My daughter and I have been here a lot over the years. We used to go weekly for Wild Wednesdays where kids got to learn about animals and their environment. Sometimes getting to pet animals and do an activity. Lots of recused animals to see, wild deer hang about, activities, hiking trails, birding.
