Owner description: For 50 years this stately and historic depot served as a major hub for transcontinental rail service. Today, it remains a monument to grand rail stations of the early 20th-century and includes four museums: the Utah State Railroad Museum, the Natural History Museum, the Browning Kimball Car Museum and the Browning Firearms Museum.

So what little kid, or little kid-at-heart, doesn't like trains? And here you get to see them, climb on them and explore. Honestly, I've only been in the building for the model train show put on every year. My boys just love climbing around the many locomotives and cars that are around the building. Best of all, the outside area is free! If you geocache or letterbox, than this place is a must. I do know the John Browning Museum is inside, but I've never been.

Spent a happy couple of hours here which I thought was good value for the $5 it cost me to get in. There is a train museum of which a significant part is about the Transcontinental Railroad. There is an amazing model railway illustrating some of the challenges posed by crossing rivers and building the route through the mountains. There are some engines outside which are huge and, by arrangement, you can get taken in side a post sorting carriage and a hospital carriage. There is also a gun museum concentrating on the many inventions of the Browning family and a car museum with some beautiful vintage cars.

We were really surprised how much we enjoyed visiting the Ogden Train Station. We had read about it in a travel book so decided to see for ourselves. It has 3 museums inside: an antique car display, a history of the railroad and how important it was to Ogden and the west, and a rifle and gun display. This is a lovely building with a wood beamed ceiling that is a marvel. The Union Grill is a reatuarant inside the building with good food. The best of all was the carmel bread pudding with fresh whipped cream. One of the best desserts we've ever had. Two can share one desssert.

They have improved the station a lot in 23 years of living in Ogden. Sorry the Forest Service has had to move, maybe it can come back again.

I liked the antique cars. They were able to start up a couple of them while I was there. The staff was very knowledgeable.
