“Best restaurant of the trip”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 7, 2010

Out on business for a week, and tried this place. Not at all disappointed. I would concur that it is not really authentic Mexican, but it delivered authentically delicious fare, and the service was excellent. The owner/chef even stopped for a chat. It was also good to find a decent margarita in Ogden. I will be back next time I am in town.

“OK mex-type food, great service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 5, 2010

I had the pork lettuce wraps and the chivechie trio, lettuce wraps were ok, the blackened ahi tuna part of my trio was excellent, whitefish and shrimp was also ok. Our server, Ashley, was spot on the entire time, always with a big smile.

“Sonora grill is the best Mexican...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 1, 2010

Sonora grill is the best Mexican restaurant in town. If you are expecting slop, grease, and an upset stomach after you're done eating you may want to hit up Javiers or El matadors. Sonora grill has a great class about it and the food is unique and tasteful. I've never been anywhere like it. I highly recommend the chicken flautas.

“VERY EXPENSIVE AND NOT GENUINE MEXICAN FOOD”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 24, 2010

We've been wanting to try this place for quite awhile. Should have waited a lot longer......! It's VERY expensive and not really genuine Mexican food. Great location so the place get's a lot of patrons. The building itself is inviting inside & out but that's where the good stuff comes to an end. The menu is shallow and really expensive. We went on a Friday night...party of 5 and they messed up 2 of the entree's.....but after pointing-out the problems with the entree's, there was little or no effort by the staff to remedy the situation. That's inexcusable. Expensive is an understatement....this place is outright ridiculously priced for what you get. There's dozens of genuine Mexican food restaurants within a short drive of Sonora Grill. Save your money and go to any number of those.

“Great food!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 6, 2010

The Sonora Grill has become one of my Ogden favorites. As some have pointed out, the food is not "traditional" Mexican food - but there are plenty of authentic Mexican places in Ogden. The food is still excellent.

This restaurant is in a brand new part of town that is impeccably clean and safe. The atmosphere is clean and modern, and the decor looks brand new.

The guacamole and salsas were excellent. My first time there, most of us had margaritas and the waitress offered us extra shots for a small, additional price - if you live in Utah you know that Utah seriously limits the liquor in mixed drinks, so being able to add a shot makes the drink only as strong as you would find elsewhere in the country. Many mixed drinks in Utah are basically fruit juice, so having a strong drink was great.

I had the mushroom fajitas, others had various seafood and vegetarian dishes. Everyone loved their food.

The prices are similar to what you would pay at a chain restaurant, unless you get a big ticket item. The service has always been excellent. The only downfall is that like many restaurants in Utah, The Sonora Grill is not open on Sundays.
