“Mountain Man weekend”
Reviewed April 11, 2012

We were there for the mountain man weekend, lots of TeePee's, Camp Tents, folks dressed up like pioneers, mountain men, it was quite fun. The park and Fort arent in the best shape anymore but the event was great.

“authentic reconstruction”
Reviewed February 7, 2012

Fort Buenaventura is a reconstruction of the fort that was built in the same location. They have artifacts on display and sometimes have Mountain Man presentations. They allow camping and my husband has taken the scouts here to camp several times. It's conveniently located in Ogden City. Even though it is in the city, you feel like you are out in the wilderness.

Reviewed February 4, 2012

Nice park & out of the rush-rush, good camp ground with in the city limits. River runs thru it. Can get swamped in Spring run off, late spring & earily summer - cotton trees shead seeds- looks "white" cotton every where - note olive trees are present, had to take aligery pill

“Great for picnics, do NOT spend the night!”
Reviewed August 8, 2010

This a great little place just west of the train yard on the south of 24th street in Ogden. It is right on the Weber river with large Cottonwoods all around. We were having a family reunion here, and had a great time, Lots of shade and it was cooled by the river. Plenty of space for our tents, a large pavilion with electrical outlets so we could cook our food, even with the fire ban at the time.
But then we tried to sleep. Between the loud clang whenever some drove over the tire rippers and the planes and helicopters from Ogden airport flying directly overhead, and the people partying at 4am, we might have gotten some sleep.
But with all the action at the train yard, it was hopeless. Maybe it was unusual, but starting after 11pm, there were endless train whistles, trains connecting and disconnecting, trains starting up and screeching to a stop. It was unbelievable.
I don't think they should allow people to attempt to camp here, much less charge them for the attempt.
I would come here again for the day, but none of us will EVER try to camp here again.
