“Very poor service from Hotel Manager. Extreme rudeness!”
Reviewed June 30, 2010

Family traveling with children ages 10, 12, 14, and 18. Booked a four night stay six months in advance to ensure a family room with good sleeping conditions. Reserved the Cocopelli Suite which had two queen beds and a sleeper sofa. Upon checking in the room did not have the sleeper sofa. Spoke with the front desk. I could get cots for ten dollars a night. Explained the situation. Was told the sleeper sofa had been removed because it was old and did not match the rooms new decor. Was told to talk to the manager in the morning. The manager argued that the room had never been a suite, that there had never been a sofa and if there had been one, I would be charged for using it. I explained if I had known the room did not sleep six I would have continued my search for a hotel that did. She said I could check out anytime. I complained about the unfriendly service. Was told I was unhappy because I was not getting my way. All I was asking for was no charge on the cots.

BWEZTbird, Front Office Manager at Best Western East Zion Thunderbird Lodge, responded to this review, July 19, 2010
We are continually renovating and remodeling our guest rooms to keep current with Best Western Standards. As always, our rooms contain either one King-size bed or two Queen-size beds, but to open up more floor space for our guests, we no longer have sofas or sofa sleepers in any of our rooms. We do have rollaway beds available upon request for a fee of $10 per night. Although we have no individual suites, we do have a suite of four rooms called the " Kokepelli Suite." These four rooms, when rented together as a suite, can interconnect via inside doors which open onto an indoor staircase and landing. These rooms were among those remodeled last winter.
Our staff understood this guest's disappointment that our improvements had not been beneficial to her, and attempted to appease her both at arrival and the next morning. We had no sofa-sleeper to deliver to the room, but because of the extenuating circumstances these guests were NOT charged for rollaway beds for any of the nights during their stay. The additional charges were completely removed on the morning after their arrival. When the guest remained unsatisfied, an offer was made to release the guests from any obligation for the remaining nights of their stay so they could seek accomodations elsewhere. This family chose to stay for the remainder of the nights, and the children seemed to truly enjoy their stay with us.

Really good location for anyone wishing to visit Zion and Bryce if you don't want to stay at the crowded touristy towns just outside the parks. The room was large and well equiped. The staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant was 'OK'. This is not an area for fine dining.

Good hotel and close to all attractions/parks in the area. Even golf course (did not play). Sells out quickly on weekends, and would not let me check in early. Hope in gift shop very knowledgable about entire area.
Restaurant OK, typical hotel fare. Eat in Kanab, lots of good choices.
High speed internet not working.

I was there with my husband and we chose this hotel as it was very close to Zion NP and because Best Western is a good brand for the price.
The first impression when you arrive at the hotel is that there is nothing else except the hotel, its restaurant and a gasoline station. The hotel looks very old and more like a motel.
We asked for a restaurant and they told us there was nothing around except the Best Western restaurant! Of course...We found by ourselves one in Kanab a few miles from Mount Carmel which was very nice!
The room was ok but not the cleanest room we have ever had! There were hair on the blankets. The general look of the room seems old.
The breakfast was not included so we took it at the hotel as there was nothing else around. It was very expensive ($30 for 2) to have the same (and even less) as you get normally included in the other Best Western.
We will definitively not stay here again the next time!

The only good things about this hotel is its location between two great National Parks. My husband and I are avid national Park travelers and decided it would be a waste of time to drive back to St George after visiting Zion since we were going to Bryce Canyon in the morning. We decided to pull out our AAA book and pick a new hotel on a whim. This hotel is very dated! I was glad we had brought our own blankets at this point because the beds didn't look inviting at all! This hotel is more like a cheap motel that needs a major face lift! Also the "bathtub" was very strange in this hotel it was very small and shallow. I wouldn't stay here again. Its definitely worth it to pay a little extra for a nice lodge in the parks instead of this dump.

Front desk was friendly, waitress was not. Rooms were clean. Rooms need updating really bad. Went to dinner, food at the restaurant was kinda pricey and just OK . The handicap accessible room we stayed in was not wheelchair accessible. We stayed at the Holiday Inn in Kanab and it was cheaper and much nicer with a free hot breakfast. I would not stay here again. Free Internet would not stay connected.
