This was an 'en-route' motel, but one which I could have stayed at for several days. The rooms were large, clean and comfortable and the staff friendly and knowledgeable. However, the highlights for us were the fruit pies served in the dining room (we had late afternoon pie along with the fixings which ruined our dinner appetite) and the hummingbirds which had been attracted to feeders outside the dining room.

Room Tip: I suspect that the rooms are very similar re whether one room is better than another.

Reserved this hotel not knowing the area. I wanted a place to stay near both Bryce and Zion. We were pleasantly surprised when we drove up to this motel. The room was very comfortable, quite large, updated with furniture made out of timbers. It was clean, and we had the best nights sleep on our trip. Our room overlooked a small golf course, and we had a small patio. The laundry and ice machine were a few doors away, and there was a restaurant attached to the motel. It was very quiet. Zion Nat'l Park was nearby, Bryce was a little further. I only have one negative comment. There are NO other restaurants around, unless you want to eat at Subway, or at a mom and pop motel across the street. So, we ate at the Thunderbird Restaurant both nights. The food was average, the prices were a little steep, but you are a captive audience. Our room rate included breakfast, we were able to order anything frm the menu. Service was average.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the back area of the motel.

The best nights sleep of your trip is worth gold! I am glad you found it here. Although the management is different for the hotel and the restaurant, I do have to mention that 5 miles away in Orderville is Soup Town, and another mile or so up the road it the Buffalo Bistro! This place is a gem! It serves rattlesnake, buffalo and other Southwestern fare. The owner does all his own cooking on an outside grill and there is also draft beer there. In addition, 9 miles east there is the Buffalo Grill. The nearest big town is Kanab, which has several dining options. It is 17 miles from Mount Carmel Junction and the Thunderbird where you stayed.

This is a fairly basic hotel and restaurant but extremely good quality. Staff are friendly and the rooms, which are "out the back", are quiet even 'though the hotel is on a fairly busy road. It is an excellent location from which to visit both Zion and Bryce canyons. The rooms are clean and large with good views although Mount Carmel itself doesn't amount to much. There is a gas station alongside the hotel.

Yes, we are a remote area with an old fashioned motel style that has been updated and remodeled often over the years. I cannot get enough of the quiet, lack of lines, clean air and bright sky, lit only by the stars and moon at night. The hotel is set on a quaint 9-hole golf course and the air temperature is perfect for golf here! My son competes in golf tournaments in St. George and it's blazing hot there in the summer! The Coral Pink Sand Dunes are just down the road, which are fun to visit after a long day in the national parks, and there are a couple of restaurants and gift shops, but besides that, yes this is a quiet oasis in paradise and it is not a city. That is what makes the East Zion section of southern Utah what it is. We are not a mall with shopping and movie theaters, but that should be welcome when visiting the national parks.

As you approach this hotel there is NOTHING around, except some boarded up businesses and old abandoned trailers. But you come around the corner and POOF! there it is. Extremely pleasant experience, both checking in and checking out. Room was HUGE, with a view of the golf course. Extremely clean and up to date. Would definitely stay again if in the area, and would definitely recommend it to someone else.

I am so pleased to read your review, and glad that checking in and out was a pleasant experienced. I can't for the life of me think of any boarded up buildings though. Maybe it was from one of the little towns down the road. I expect when traveling the little towns tend to run together. Thank you for noticing how large our rooms are! That is a plus these days, as modern rooms get more compact.

Thank you for your review.

wonderful place to stay. very comfortable beds. never heard a sound from our neighbors. very budget friendly. really enjoyed having a patio to sit on. we stayed here two nights for what one night cost in bryce canyon city. if we had it to do again we would not switch hotels when we went to bryce but would stay here when visiting both zion and bryce. the only negative was that there wasn't breakfast included but I understand because the prices are so low.

I get a kick out of the hotel design as well. My Grandma who had the units built would always proudly say: "a student of Frank Lloyd Wright designed them". I have always loved the angles, the space and in the upstairs of some units, the vaulted ceilings. Thank you for your review!

I booked this hotel based on Trip Advisor reviews, but was still a bit apprehensive about it since there's really not much in Mount Carmel. It turned out to be a great place and is conveniently located between Bryce and Zion, so you can finish up in one park, drive a short distance here, and be in the other park for some early to mid-morning hiking. The rooms were large, clean, economical, and had everything we needed. The Wi-Fi reception was great as well. The staff was very welcoming and helpful, and we immediately used the pool and jetted hot tub after a long day of hiking. Our patio opened onto the green area of the golf course, so we enjoyed sitting out there as well. The attached restaurant is also highly recommended. They do not offer a complimentary breakfast though.
