“Nice surprise at the end of the road”

Great look, attached to a good Best Western, funny story to go with the Ho-Made Pies slogan (available on Ts, cup holders, shot glasses...), great service, but only decent food at a somewhat high price. Golden Hills across the street is less attractive on the outside but was clean, cheaper and great for breakfast.

“Awesome portions, great taste, good prices!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 30, 2013

I ate here twice with my wife, the breakfast and lunch we shared were both great. Biscuits and gravy, pancakes, giant slice o ham, chili burger, and chicken alfredo were large portioned, good priced and yummy. The waitresses were very personable and attentive.

“Just OK”

Nice, handy, and beautiful setting but the food and service are better across the road. The pies are great.

“Great Pies, Service and More”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 11, 2013

After a long drive from park to park, there is nothing better than finding a good place to eat that keeps everyone in the family happy. Thunderbird's staff treated us as though we had just come home. The food was delicious, pies for dessert sublime. While waiting, we watched the hummingbirds drink sugarwater from the feeders outside the window. Even the restrooms were clean and a welcome site for the traveler. But, come to Thunderbird early! The best pies disappear quickly! We went back a second time, but still did not get a bite of the famous berry pie!

“Tired, needs updated Menu and Dining Room”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 9, 2013

Driving from Page, AZ to St George, UT on a Sunday we had hoped to have lunch in Kanab but all the restaurants must be owned by Mormons because they were all closed. Got gas and the kid working there said only fast food open. I knew there was a place up the road at the Junction of 89 & 9 so we continued on. The place looks real tired and the staff wasn't very enthused. I ordered a salad it came ice cold like it was made the day before and refrigerated. I also got a tuna sandwich and the bread they claim is homemade was dry and tuna not much better. My husband had the turkey dinner, meat was deli, mashed potatoes ok and veggies boiled from frozen. My mother had the taco salad and could barely find any chili and even though she said not spicy they dumped a bunch of green chilis on the top. Only a few other tables taken and al seemed to be travelers, the locals must know to stay away. In the off-season and on a Sunday choices are few and far between. I should have waited until we got home.
