“Let the Wind Blow”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 11, 2013

A change of plans brought us to Monument Valley and a 3 hour horseback ride with Black's. You meet the driver in the parking area of Monument Valley Tribal Park where you are then driven in an open back truck about a half an hour to where the horses are. Marlo, our main guide was overwhelmed because of so many beginner riders in our group so took a bit to get people paired up with their horse, but it was worth the extra wait to get started. Yo go at a leisurely pace, your horse chooses the speed, not you and are taken to several different ruins in the backcountry that most people do not get to see. Even my Dad, who usually hikes had fun. Keep in mind, it can be windy so be prepared for that.

“Great Horseback Riding Tour with Marlow”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 5, 2013

It was one of the best ways to experience the breathtaking atmosphere of Monument Valley. We went on a 2,5 hour horseback riding tour with Marlow. He took us to a lot of amazing places and told us a lot of Indian tales. We can only recommend this tour (ask for Marlow!!!). It's defenitely worth the money. The complete John Wayne experience! :-)

“Very good Monument Valley Tour company.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 29, 2013

We arranged a tour of the Monument Valley through Black's Tour Company. We were driven by a Navaho woman in a jeep into areas only Navaho Indians can travel. We saw natural wonders, as well as petrographic sites which dated back many years. Even though we were in a fairly new Jeep, be prepared to be in for a rough and tumble ride. It is over ground that has never been leveled and many have ruts washed out by winds and storms. Our guide told us stories of having been raised in a "hogan" which you can see an example of at the Visitors Center.

“Jeep Ride:adventure, scenery and Navajo history”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 28, 2013

A 3-in-1 activity where we got to see spectacular Monument Valley during an adventurous jeep ride over the sandy dunes and incredibly rocky 'road' in addition to learning about the Navajos, their history and present day culture. We took the late afternoon 3 hour trip which gave us the benefit of seeing the park and its majesty both in day light hours and at sunset. Our guide Clifford (and Donovan in training) were both proud of their heritage wanting to share information about the park and their lives and made sure to include both our 12 and 14 year old. Our trip extended over the three hours which they were quite happy with. Dubious initially about paying so much for the trip we certainly felt after that it would have been too stressful to have driven ourselves and you also benefit from seeing additional incredible areas. One of the highlights for all us of our road trip from Denver to Phoenix.

“Unique & Memorable Experiemce,Highly Recomend it !”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 27, 2013

This was one of the best trips we have taken. The beauty of the rocks, canyons , Buttes and Mesas were breathtaking . Our guide Leander toured us around to all the ruins, and was very knowledgeable about the Navajo/ Dene lore . What we loved most was the leisurely pace of the 6 hr. ride .Horses were well behaved and no problems with them .We got to see wild horses ,get off and touch the rocks ,the feeling of being right in it instead of looking at it from a jeep far away. We took a 10 minute break every hour so our butts did not get sore at all. We are not horse experienced riders so the 6 hr. ride was not hard at all and was manageable the next day. We stayed in a Hogan that night, rustic and furnished with simple basic needs, double bed, water to wash, small wood stove to light a fire and a grilled steak /beans dinner . A full moon outlined and reflected the rocks in the valley beautifully that night. Leander had a great idea ,take a moonlight / full moon ride which would have been very interesting .We highly recommend this tour in something unique and different from the usual tourist trek .
