We just loved this hike. It's not that long and is pretty easy hiking. To see the Mittens from various angles is a real treat for taking pictures too! We started out in sunshine and ended up in rain so it did get a bit slippery near the end, but it was a well maintained trail and just beautiful!

It's one of 2 hikes from the hotel and the better of the two. It was also empty--we took it around 10am and never saw a soul. Pure bliss. Plenty of wildflowers too (late May).

Easy hike until the last three quarters of a mile. Uphill slogging through sand. However, beautiful and well worth it. We did not see anyone until we were finished. Very hot and little or no shade.

This is the only trail that you are allowed to hike unaccompanied. If you want to get an up close feel, I definitely recommend it; although make sure that it is not too hot since it could be brutal in the heat.

Compared to other hikes in Arizona and Utah this is really an easy stroll around one of the most famous buttes in Monument Valley. Don't miss it. It's the only way you can say that you 'hiked Monument Valley'. Of course, bring water and dress appropriately. We are in our mid-50's and it took about 2 hours, including numerous stops for pictures.
