Our small group booked our tour in advance through the internet working with Nate to ensure that what we were interested in would be addressed. Nate was very professional, thoughtful and helpful. Our guide Brian arrived on time and provided us with vehicle options. Thankfully he arrived in a large protected vehicle making it easy to enjoy the sights without having to contend with the wind and the blowing dust during the ride - although he would have gladly changed vehicles had we insisted on an open air ride. I was impressed with Brian's natural ease with our group. He has a great sense of humor but is also very serious and thoughtful in his presentation of his culture and home land. His is well traveled and can easily relate to different backgrounds and has gone out of his way to try to learn many languages so that he can better communicate with non-English speaking peoples. I am guessing that this makes him unique. He was also very generous with his fellow guides, from other companies, conversing with them as well as their tours from which they greatly benefited, as did we. The ability to go into restricted areas and meet what should be national treasures, like Suzy Yatze, made the tour extra special. Additionally, Brian is genuinely talented in his singing and drumming which really enhanced our experience. Overall, it was a very small, but thorough glimpse into the lives of the Navajo which leaves you wanting to know more. I highly recommend Monument Valley Safari Tours and strongly discourage anyone from trying to make this drive themself. If you are thinking of forgoing this tour then see if Brian will give you driving lessons-you will need them.
