“Good local specialties”
Reviewed October 5, 2009

Try the local Navajo dinner specialties on the menu. Buffet breakfast is hearty, but nothing remarkable. Service is friendly and competent. Prices are fair. I don't think anyone reaally goes to Monument Valley for the food.

“Good food, great view”
Reviewed October 2, 2009

We had 2 meals, breakfast and lunch at the View restaurant. The breakfast buffet was large, fresh fruit, selection of breads and meats. The eggs and pancakes were precooked and served on steamers. The waiter was very accomdodating. Based on my reading of Tony Hillerman novels about the Navajo, I expected the service staff to be quiet and standoffish. Our servers at both meals were friendly and positively chatty. The food is not the best I have eaten, but it seemed freshly cooked, full of vegtables and nicely presented.

“Food OKish”
Reviewed September 27, 2009

We were fortunate to have a window table with 'The View'. The food was average and I felt the service could have been slicker. The local staff could do with a lesson in service - I felt that they were doing you a favour by being there. Hey ho!
Being Navajho - no drinks,ugh!

“Exceptional Staff”
Reviewed September 24, 2009

Had dinner and breakfast at The View during our stay here. Food is very good and priced very well. The exceptional view right inside Monument Valley is to die for. The highlight for us was the Native American wait staff. Despite a very busy dining room, they were friendly and accomodating. We enjoyed talking with them and learning a little about their lives. They were very pleasant compared to the surly waitresses across the highway at Gouldings. We'll avoid Goudlings next trip and just eat here as everything is better.. price, view and staff. Nice gift shop just off the dining room. The tribal park is dry so no alcohol is served here. We just brought our own beer and sat on our balcony at The View Hotel watching the sun set before heading to the restaurant. It was a truly memorable evening for us as Monument Valley is a magical place.

“In fry bread heaven”
Reviewed August 19, 2009

I ate lunch at the View restaurant while touring Monument Valley this past July. It is located next to the View hotel, in the same building that houses a lovely gift shop, and is entered after walking through a cafeteria and up a couple of stairs. The young man who waited on me was friendly and efficient. I ordered an appetizer as my main course: four beautiful and tasty Navajo tacos (fry bread topped with beans, tomatoes, onions, and lettuce), and followed that with a desert of more fry bread, requesting that sugar and cinnamon be substituted for the usual honey. Yum! And the view from the View can't be beat.
