“A great way to see the Valley - sunrise tour”
Reviewed April 17, 2011

By going on a tour of Monument Valley we experienced so much more than we possibly could by self driving. Firstly, we were able to travel off the main roads as well as hearing stories that you wouldn’t get if you drove yourself. The sunrise tour seemed the best option for us – and it didn’t disappoint! The views were amazing, and being the only two on the tour with someone who grew up in the Valley, we learnt a great deal. Willie taught us about his childhood, the Navajo people and the different structures and formations in Monument Valley. The tour lasted 3 h, which was probably an ideal amount of time. We’d highly recommend a sunrise tour! Although it was well worth the money, be sure to take the correct cash!

“See Monument Valley with Blackwater”
Reviewed March 30, 2011

My husband and 11 year old son did the half day tour. Our tour guide was Parick, a soft spoken and excellent tour guide. We loved riding in the outdoors in the back of his truck. Our son rode indoors with him and we could see them chatting. Patrick is young enough to get along with a child and also give a great tour which interested us all. Monument Valley is an incredible place, and I highly recommend going with a guide, as you can go off the main road, and a guide knows which spots are the most special. Patrick sang for us near the end of the tour with the accompaniment of his drum. With his eyes closed and the emotion in his voice, one could really feel the history, both noble and tragic, of the Navajo people.

“A great tour”
Reviewed March 19, 2011

We recently did the 2 and a half our tour with Perry of Blackwater Tours who arrived promptly at the scheduled time. Perry was a great guide and provided us with much local knowledge about all we saw and he allowed up adequate time at each stop to take photos and enjoy it all. Our tour included a trip inside the restricted area which was absolutely wonderful with such great sights.

At a pinch we could have drive the 17 mile loop ourselves but we would have missed the wonderful sights in the restricted area. Well done to Perry and Blackwater Tours.

“Willie the best guide ever.”
Reviewed January 22, 2011

We have been travelling for 6 months across Canada and the U.S and have seen wonderful sights across this vast country. We have always wanted to visit the wonderful Monument Valley and today we had the opportunity.. We were lucky to get Willie Blackwater to take us out to the restricted area only available to see with a guide. Willie has a great deal of knowledge which he shared with us and a great sense of humor. He will pull your leg if he gets a chance and created many smiles through our time together. It certainly was a highlight of our whole trip.
Thanks willie

“Monument Valley - Blackwater Tours”
Reviewed January 11, 2011

My husband and I booked an all day tour with Blackwater Tours. We never knew that Monument Valley was vast, and had a long history of it's own. Our tour guide "Willie", was very insightful, and fun to be with. We spent the whole day driving into canyons, back roads, and over sand dunes.
We did take a trip into Monument Valley the day before, but with another tour company. It was uninviting, commercialized, timed, and crowded.
I recommend booking with a local tour company first, don't judge a book by it's cover.
