“Unforgettable experience”

Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park
Reviewed December 8, 2012

We chose to drive ourselves around the Park, and the day was a truly unforgettable experience. It is worth making the effort to visit and, for us, it was a real highlight of our travels so far

Spectacular place, although some better information and less commercialism would be an improvement.
The self drive road loop was very rough, and has deteriorated over the years, and should be upgraded - even a little so normal vehicles can negotiate it more easily.

We added this stop into our southwest trip and it was more spectacular than we imagined. The small entrance fee is well worth it, the views are unbelievable. Visiting the park in November without the crowds allowed us to see it in its natural beauty. We drove the trail slowly and carefully in a Toyota Venza with no problems (though it definitely needed a wash afterwards). The Visitor’s Center is very clean with million dollar views all around. Very nice gift shop; good variety of souvenir trinkets and beautiful Native American jewelry and pottery of very good quality. Friendly and helpful staff. Take-away sandwiches are available at the restaurant.

It is a very small list of places in the world that truly live up to their advance PR. This is one of them.
It is a staggeringly beautiful place. There is no bad time of day to see it... but do not miss sunrise and sunset. They are not to be missed... and they are occasions you will remember forever.
The drive through the valley is best done by 4 X 4, but we did see people in both a Prius and a Mini attempting the dirt road. Brave/stupid.
You will fill up the memory card on your camera with no effort!
If you can, hike the Wild Cat trail! Experience one of the Mittens up close and personal!

First of all you have to go to Monument Valley by car (SUV the best idea)
The road around the valley is unpaved and the driving is difficult especially to and from the hills.Expect a lot of red dust on your car after the trip.If you dont have to return your car to the rental center on the same day, you dont have to worry .

You have to spend at least three hours to see this beautiful place.Bring your best camera.
