This is a very good hotel with an unbeatable location. It has been built to merge beautifully with the landscape. The sunrise and sunset over the desert are magnificent.
This is THE hotel to stay at if you're visiting Monument Valley, because it's literally the gateway to the valley. But you do, of course, end up paying more for the unbeatable location than for the exquisiteness of the hotel as such. Oh, the hotel is good, make no mistake about that, it's just that by itself, it would be overpriced.
The rooms are all well appointed with all the usual necessities. All the rooms face the valley - and the left and right "mitts". A road winds down from very close to the hotel into the valley.
There breakfast is priced somewhat heavily, but there is a 5-dollar coupon per person handed out while checking in. I think it's a gimmick that makes you think you've got a bargain. Also, you have to pay for the breakfast at the cashier's in the restaurant when you're done. There is a mandatory gratuity that goes with the price of breakfast, so if you're leaving anything at the table, take this gratuity into account. This gratuity is obviously not mentioned earlier at any time.
Nonetheless, this is a lovely place to stay.More
