It's obvious that this hotel's main asset is its prime location. But we also found the staff very forthcoming and friendly. The Wifi worked fine even in our room although we were pretty far from the lobby.
Dinner in the restaurant was fine, service quick. Breakfast was a bit less convincing. Nice gift shop with items you don't find everywhere.

We stayed here for 3 nights as part of a honeymoon vacation. Due scheduling issues we 1 night in a 3rd floor room and 2 nights in a 2nd floor room . They both were the same in size and viewing options. Our 2nd floor room was farther away from the restaurant/gift shop which allowed us to get better photos. At check-in we were asked for a credit card for 'incidentals' but we were not allowed to charge anything to the room, so maybe it's in case you break a rule.

The rooms are adequate -standard basic amenities, basic furnishings, standard TV channels ETC. We had internet in our room the entire time, even though we were told it was only available in the lobby. If you are looking for room service, this is definitely not your hotel !

The hardest part of the hotel to swallow is the restaurant sub-par food. Sorry for the pun - but I never knew granola could be that rock-hard and scrambled eggs that dry and tasteless. We checked in on a Saturday and watched the quality and availability of food options deteriorate over the weekend . The food was so dire, and there are no other options available, we drove 20 + miles to find a McDonalds for a breakfast, just cause we knew it would be consistent. We did notice food trucks arrive Monday and quickly more food options were available but the food quality remained flavorless. As the property is on Navajo nation land, no alcohol is available & most food options are traditional fare.

I suggest getting up early to take in the sunrise. We hiked around the mittens at sunrise and not only took in the amazing view with wild horses, but also beat the intense daytime heat. Well worth getting out of bed early!

In a nutshell, The View Hotel is your basic, no frills standard hotel with average service and food (I suggest packing lots of snacks). The upside is the awesome view and great location to enable you hit some major surrounding attractions and hiking trails.

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights in a Premium 2nd floor room. We had an amazing view which is why we picked this hotel. We did not care for the air conditioning. The temperature was at least 5 degrees warmer than what the thermostat indicated. If you turned the thermostat down lower, it didn't seem to cool at all. We could never get it set to where we were comfortable. The A/C was also noisy in the room and on the balcony. We could not get WiFi in our room. Upon our arrival, we'd struggled to get the luggage cart through the set of double doors. Only later did we realize that there was a single door on the side. The front desk personnel were not overly friendly. I'm glad we stayed here for the view but would probably not stay here again.

WE spent one night in cabin 27 and wish it had been a week. The cabin was cozy and had everything we needed.
No TV--but who missed it?? The staff was friendly and helpful and the restaurant at the hotel was a hop and skip away. I can't wait to come back and stay longer.

Family of 5 stayed 2 nights in cabin 5 and what a treat! Directly in front of the mittens with views of several monuments. There is a hiking trail that goes down to one of the mittens, winds around it and loops back. It's not marked but easy to find. Look for the horse trail. Down is much easier than up. Bring plenty of water. Originally booked one night but added another because we never wanted to leave. What an amazing accommodation! Clean and comfortable. Full kitchen but no dishes, utensils, etc. Be sure to wake up for sunrise.
