My family traveled through AZ and UT for 2 weeks in September. Our stay at The View was one of the highlights of the trip. It is on the pricier side, but it truly is worth the money! Of course the view is the most notable part of the stay with all of the rooms facing monument valley and each room with a private balcony. We were fortunate enough to arrive before sunset, which is truly the most beautiful time of day here.

Aside from the views however, his hotel still has a lot to offer. The decor was extremely nice both in the lobby and in the room, with decorations reflecting the local culture. The rooms were spacious and very clean too. Bathrooms were nice, clean and updated. The hotel has a very peaceful feel about it and it was very quiet. The hotel was full the night we stayed there and yet it didn't seem over crowded. The food at the restaurant was good and there was a large variety. Every evening they play old westerns on a projector outside on one of the patios which was a very nice touch. Lastly, they have several activities available in the lobby and my family stayed up late putting a puzzle of Monument Valley together, having quality time. The desk clerk even made us coffee late that night.

Overall, this is probably one of the nicest hotels we stayed in during our entire trip and I would recommend it to anyone. We hope to return someday!

We have been to Monument Valley before but never stayed overnight. It was not cheap but well worth all that we paid. Ok, the restaurant is not 5-star but the good service is very genuine and the food plentiful and tasty and all for a fraction of what some other places charge. There's an impressive lobby area and the rooms are very well furnished and very clean. Great to watch the sunset/sunrise from the balcony of the room and there's a buzz around the place at both of these times. We decided to take a trip into the valley with a Navajo guide before leaving. We were two hours late getting back (due to getting an extended tour courtesy of the guide) but were allowed to keep our room well beyond the normal departure time by the very helpful young lady on reception (thank you again). One of the highlights of our 3-week tour of the parks and we'd love to stay again if we ever get to return to this awesome part of the world.

No doubt about it, its the best place to stay to explore the valley because its right at the entrance! In fact, you have the entire valley as your view! The room and service is of very high quality and for the lodging this remote, its well worth the price. The restaurant is also very reasonable
with large servings. Really made my Monument Valley experience an excellent one. Oh yes, don't try to save on a Navajo guide and drive the valley yourself unless you are well versed with te history and culture of the valley. The photos really become more meaningful with the history provided by the guide.

Room Tip: Check the moon phase if you are going to pay more for a starlight room. The moon light makes it diff...

Ok, I hear the reviews, which all echo, "oh, but the view".....but is the view worth $150 upwards? This is a 3 star simple hotel. In any other location it would not be worth the money paid. Granted, the rooms are very nice, and decorated to a high standard. The added balcony access is also great. But I do get the sense that the value stops short of a full hotel service.....and this hotel is portrayed as very upmarket, which the prices seem to illustrate. So where are the shortcomings? Wifi does not reach the rooms (hello, this is 2013), the telephone broke down in the night, the coffee maker in the room did not work. No room service of any kind, no cosy coffee bar available exclusively to hotel guests, a poor in house restaurant. Oh, the entrance signage speaks, actually shouts, "cheap". Perhaps I am being petty, but a hotel that charges these high rates needs to be able to deliver a service offering par excellance, and not rely solely on an arguably beautiful view to pull the game off. Next time I would rather stay at the competition, or even out of town and travel into the valley as required. I guess I am not being hoodwinked into the view offered that clouds all other judgement.

The View Hotel may be expensive, but it is worth every penny. Monument Valley is a truly stunning landscape, and one of the ways that is has been able to remain so remarkable is that there has been minimal development in the surrounding area. Apart from Goulding's Lodge, which is a short drive outside of the tribal park, The View is the only hotel or restaurant for miles. Alternatives in towns like Kayenta are 30 minutes away from the park, are older and more outdated, and are rather expensive in their own right. The more you factor in the alternatives the better value The View begins to become.

The rooms are modern and fairly standard hotel rooms. However what clearly sets this hotel apart are the spectacular views from the private balconies in each and every room. It couldn't have been easier to enjoy both the sunrise and the sunset at Monument Valley. I am by no means a morning person, but you have no excuse to skip the sunrise at Monument Valley when all you have to do is step out onto your own private balcony and enjoy the view. The hotel's restaurant was also quite good and very reasonably priced for the quantity and quality of the food. The Navajo dishes here were some of the best we had on our entire trip. The green chile stew and the red chile posole were standout dishes. We had one breakfast, lunch, and dinner here and all were good. The service was also excellent both in the restaurant and the hotel.

My only comment would be that since the Navajo nation is alcohol free there is no alcohol available at the hotel or restaurant. If you are interested in having a drink you can do what we did and buy a bottle of wine from wherever you are travelling from to enjoy on your own balcony during the sunset.

This hotel is simply awesome!!!! My husband liked it so much that he wants to live there!!!! The rooms are beautifully done, everything from the flooring to the bed covers were beautiful!! The views of sunrise and sunset are worth the price of the hotel stay. We ate at the restaurant and the food is ok but the views are stunning plus you have no where else to go. We had been to the surrounding areas before but always run out of time to visit Monument Valley. We were so glad that we made the time to visit. It's much better in person than in pictures. We will go back someday and stay longer! :)

This place was great. The view was fantastic - literally - sunset, the stars and sunrise - all were terrific from the balcony. Hotel was great, restaurant OK, but good food. The colors of the sunrise and set set were great with the rock monuments black. Got very lucky with getting the room during Government shutdown. Need to book well in advance but got the one cancellation of the day.

Room Tip: All the rooms will have a view - all look good.
