“A Room with a View”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 7, 2013

First of all please realise you are paying as for the view as well as the room. If you want to see Monument Valley you cannot get a better vista. The rooms are good, they are spacious and really have all that you need. The room service is good also. It does not include breakfast but we felt at $10 this was reasonable as they have you as a captive audience and could ask more. Evening menu is well priced and food quality is good.
Remember you are going for the access and view to Monument Valley when you look at the price of rooms.
Oh yes one last thought Monument Valley is alcohol free so BYOB.

The view from the windows of your room are, of course, spectacular. Watch the monuments turn red as the sun sets. Our rooms and balconies were clean, decently decorated, but otherwise it was like an inexpensive and cheaply built motel. No Wi-Fi in the rooms, unless yours is real close to the lobby.
The dinner and breakfast and service were not horrible, but no one travels here for the food. Too bad, because Native American food can be well-prepared and interesting. Few Dine (Navajo) dishes were available. Great well stocked trading post.

Very disappointed with this hotel. for a start, it is massively overpriced - we paid $300 for a room, which frankly is no more than a motel room. the hotel is badly designed. Views from the back of the hotel have all manner of obstructions in the way that blight all your photos for the sunset - car park lighting columns, water tanks, scrap out buildings etc. that is very thoughtless. Our main gripe was that our incredible expensive room on the top floor had a very poor view of the monuments because the adjacent room protruded out further, therefore creating a big wall to one side that blocked the view. given that we had booked one of the most expensive rooms, i was very disappointed. On ringing down it became apparent that they really could not care less. We asked to speak to a manager, but reception told us that they would do that - the answer, of course, was 'we can't do anything about it'. which actually means 'we won't do anything about it'. we left with a very bitter taste. A far better solution would be to stay in the Hampton Inn at Kayenta for a fraction of the price and make the 30 minute drive to see the monuments in all their glory. You have to pay the $5 entrance fee, but you have to pay that even if you stay at The View. Never again.

We paid 250$ for a one night stay. View was perfect but rooms were just normal rooms. At this price breakfast was not included. Had to pay 10$ per person for breakfast buffet. The food was just average.

We did not try dinner at the restaurant. If you come from Moab, I suggest going to Citymarket grocery store in Moab on main street before leaving Moab. This is a great grocery store with a salad bar. Bring your own food (we bought a salad for dinner) to Monument Valley and enjoy the view!

If you want to see Monument Valley, this is the place to stay. Each room has a small balcony that allows you to view the sunrise over the Mittens. Our room had two beds, was clean and very comfortable. While staying here, you are inside the park and can take a tour or drive down in the valley at your leisure. We drove instead touring. Unless you have a four wheel drive vehicle or a sturdy car that you don't care about, take the tour. The road is unpaved and very ruff. This facility also houses the Visitor Center, restaurant and gift shop. Awesome place and beautiful views.

A few years ago this hotel didn't exist and if you wanted to visit Monument Valley your options were lacking. I read about the hotel opening in a review in the New York Times - I recall two things from that review - BYOB (or wine) because the Navajo Nation.

Don't go for the hotel, go because you want to see Monument Valley and you want a comfortable room with a balcony overlooking the valley, with good / friendly service, a full service restaurant serving three meals - which are just fine and an excellent value. If you're a photographer this hotel is a must stay, set your tripod up on your balcony - there is no BAD room and shoot away from dusk to dawn.

Perhaps because I went in with low expectations of the restaurant I was so pleasantly surprised. There are enough menu options to allow you to order something different for a few days stay. Most importantly though - it's cheap. Ridiculously cheap (don't tell them I said that). You are in the middle of nowhere, the nearest McDonald's in 20 miles away and the hotel management could totally gouge visitors. But they don't.

The other thing - and I say this with sensitivity - is sometimes hotels on reservations (mostly casino hotels) are not known for their service, it's just a cultural difference from what some frequent travelers might be expecting. However, the service at The View hotel was amazing, from check in to housekeeping to the restaurant staff, cashier and gift shops.

People gather in the lobby at night to play games, use the wifi or read and it's quite comfortable. I ran into mostly Europeans during my stay. I did the drive through the monument valley in sedan, though an SUV would have been preferable, but going slow I made it no problems. The only thing missing that would have been nice would have been a swimming pool, but you don't drive to the middle of nowhere to swim I guess.

And as far as other reviewers who complain about the price - here's the thing stay elsewhere. I din't find this hotel to be outrageously priced and what you pay for is the view from your room - which is priceless.

Room Tip: I don't think there is a bad room in the place, but I did stay on the 2nd floor. The elevators a...

We stayed at this hotel for one night in May. Monument Valley is an amazing place and the views from our room were spectacular. However, the room itself, whilst clean, was very average and was certainly overpriced compared to other places we stayed in which also had great views. The restaurant was pretty good, my husband had a great steak for dinner and we both enjoyed breakfast. The staff in the restaurant were excellent. If you want fantastic views this is the place to stay, but be prepared to pay a high price.
