“Where else would you stay?”

There's that old adage "location, location, location". So, with that said, we paid the extra fee to be on the top floor with the "sky view". In hindsight, this was completely unnecessary... and I'm a photog! All of the rooms face the valley floor with the spectacular view everyone is looking for. Neither of our two nights were spent stargazing because we were too tired from hiking the Wildcat trail and horseback riding. Worth noting is that the "do not disturb" sign that we hung on our door, was not honored. Strangely, a fellow asking if we needed our air conditioning fixed knocked on the door. My husband was completely puzzled since our AC was just fine and we did not ask for a service tech. This was after we informed housekeeping that we did not need our room cleaned. Trying to help water conservation efforts, our family sees no need to have sheets cleaned after just one night of sleeping on them. Towels? Well, they can be used twice. Were they checking on us? We will never know, but it gave us pause because the inquiry from a very large fellow just didn't seem legitimate. Internet access. The website states that internet access is only available in the lobby area. Much to our surprise, we found that our room had wonderful signal strength. It was 10 rooms away from the lobby. Staff. They were hit or miss. I chatted with the front desk on the first day of our stay and the young lady was helpful and pleasant during check in. On the second day, when my husband requested the parking pass that you need to enter the scenic drive, he found the gentleman completely surly. My knee-jerk reaction was that this hotel is the only one around. They have zero competition. Parking was good but during our stay we found two stray dogs wandering around the lot. Sadly, one had a broken front paw and was limping towards some cars to find shade. This broke our hearts. Know that the surround area is very impoverished. Be sure to tip if you utilize any of the tour services.

Room Tip: Request a room closer to the lobby (1-10) on any of the floors and you may have great internet acces...

If you already make it to Monument Valley, it's definitely worth it despite the price. We arrived just in time for sunset and skipped paying the 5$ pp fee at the entrance. The hotel is perfectly located and justifies its name. Fantastic views from every location: the room, the dining room, gift shop etc. Wifi is only available in the main areas and is not that fast. Our room was clean, bed comfortable and excellent shower.

You receive a 7$ discount pp towards breakfast which has a decent selection to offer though we did felt rushed to finish and leave our table.

The gift shop is a way overpriced so be warned and the staff cannot make any recommendations regarding tour operators so just shop around.

We chose the 'star view' room but there is absolutely no need to spend extra for this. There was nothing special in the view from our room even if it was located on the top floor. All rooms have fantastic views and are obstructed in an equal way as the others.

Room Tip: do not spend extra on a 'star view room'

The location is top! The view is the best!!!! Nomen est omen! Great sunset and sunrise pictures directly from your room. wow!
However, you hear every word spoken in the rooms next to you, above and below you... And if your neighbor flush their toilettes, you think it's in your bedroom... A real pity for such a great location....
We had the pleasure to hear our neighbor downloading his entire day extensively for 60min to his wife over the telephone while above us kids were running around and screaming. By 10pm it was quiet though except that our dear neighbor had to se his bathroom...

We stayed on the top floor with 2 queen size beds. The room is spaciousness, nicely decorated and clean. The bathroom but roomy and clean too. The only issue with the 2 queen beds is that they are more like twin size beds rather than queen like they advertise; so OK for an individual but too small for a couple. If you travel as a couple and have the choice, definitely go for the king size bed.

The view from the balcony is spectacular! It's quite amazing sitting there in front of those rocks all in private, anytime you like.

The things I didn't like are more about the services of the hotel (or more like the lack of them) rather than the room, because the room itself was really good and the one in a lifetime experience was worth the high rate they charge.

You can't order food to your room. We traveled all day and when we arrived I just wanted to have a meal in the room and rest but the only place to eat in the area is the View Restaurant and you're forced to go there unless you want to drive out for miles. Breakfast is also not included which I thought was kind of ironic. We stayed at a cheap hotel in Moab and they offered free breakfast but not this $200/night hotel. They give you a $5 off breakfast buffet in the restaurant but we didn't go so I don't know what it's like or how much it actually costs. The wifi was slow but free.

I also left a separate review about the Park itself and the View Restaurant.

Room Tip: We payed extra for the top floor but I think the second floor, and probably even the first, will be...

Having visited Monument Valley, I was not sure if I liked the fact that this hotel was built on the valley rim. However, I was very impressed in the design of the hotel that blended beautifully into the environment.

We booked two nights in one of the premium rooms. I'm a photographer, so I was hoping for a "star" view room, but none were available. Turns out a room on any floor is fine, but the premium rooms are more distant from the lobby and busy areas. We had a second floor room, and were very happy.

We found the rooms to be very clean, large, and comfortable. The hotel is still fairly new, so everything looked new. I knew the view would be spectacular, and photographing sunrise on the mittens in my pajamas from our balcony was an ultimate guilty pleasure. The room was pricey, and the restaurant is just OK (although we thought breakfast was excellent), but it was a great stay! I hope to visit again.

Room Tip: The difference in rooms in minor - can't go wrong with any room.

New rooms and very spacious. Bathrooms fantastic.

Very clean.

Missing a trick with WiFi. Was meant to work in the Lobby but gave up waiting for that annoying circle awaiting connection.

Hotel is all about its excellent view. One of the best in the world. Rooms face Ease and ideal for sunset and rises. Excellent Photos.

The gift shop is a rip off and well marked up. Try other places for the souvenirs. Reception staff a bit young and immature; had no idea of sunrise times.

My son and I recently spent a night at this excellent property as part of a swing through Navajo Country and the Four Corners area. I not only recommend the hotel, I suggest that if you're in the area, you make a special effort to spend a night there. First, a thought about ratings: not all four and five stars hotels are the same-- this hotel doesn't provide a high thread count zen-like spa experience, and doesn't come close to a Ritz-Carleton or Peninsula hotel. Against the world's best, this hotel might make a "3". However, to find such a delightful property in this remote location, providing the perfect setting; clean, comfortable and tasteful rooms; efficient and friendly service; good food; a delightful lobby area, a small and interesting on-site museum, and decent shopping was such a pleasant and unexpected surprise that four stars feels a bit stingy. We opted for the cheapest (i.e., bottom floor, not too far from the lobby) off-season accommodation, so the rate we paid (just over $100) is also a factor in the rating and "value" factor. I expect to pay a "remoteness premium" at such isolated locations ("island pricing"), making the lodging a terrific bargain and the food pricing fair. (maybe a five is the right rating after all....)

I can understand how an individual's experience with bad service might color their overall evaluation, and is certainly relevant to note (especially for property management), but our experience at the View was great: we had a delightful, friendly and efficient server and an above-average meal at the restaurant, and our other experiences with the staff were fine.

The view is jaw-dropping (I thank other reviewers for the insight to avoid paying a room location premium--the view is great and essentially the same everywhere on the site). As great as that site's view is, be sure to get out into the valley (I highly recommend a guided tour): the sights and views get even better (really)!! We took the hike, as well, and enjoyed the challenge it presented. A real hiker would rate it "easy"; a typical desk jockey in fairly good shape will find it "moderately challenging", and the less-fit should know that the climb back up to the hotel at the end of the hike is really tough (stop often and take a LOT of pictures--it gives your heart rate a chance to slow, the angle of the sun to change, and you'll enjoy hours of sorting out which minutely different shot is best when you get back home to the computer.).

Don't miss seeing the Valley, and enjoy your stay at this special and memorable hotel.

Room Tip: No need to pay a premium--our room's view was super.
