We stayed here two nights the first weekend of March 2013. The View Hotel is a surprisingly attractive and modern hotel on the edge of Monument Valley. It has beautiful native decorations in the lobby and of course, the view from there is wonderful. The rooms are comfortable and nicely designed, and each has an east-facing balcony overlooking Monument Valley. We would highly recommend this hotel if your travels take you to the Valley. Some additional thoughts. Don't forget that off season prices are substantially more affordable for every category room than during high seasons. We stayed in a premium suite for a fraction of what it would have cost at other times of the year...and the views are just as good! During the off season, in the morning the hotel restaurant serves only a complimentary continental breakfast. Also, during the off season, the restaurant dining room is not open for lunch. Burgers, sandwiches, fries, etc. are available at a take-out window. Dinner is sit down, full service, but remember, no alcohol is served in the Navajo Nation. In your guest room, there is an ice bucket and ice is available down the hall, but the five-star prices at this hotel do not include glass drinking glasses next to the ice bucket or in the bathroom...only plastic sealed plastic cups.

Every room has a balcony overlooking Monument Valley. The hotel is run by the Navajo Nation, and they do an excellent job. The rooms are comfortable, tv, fridge, microwave, bathtub and shower. Comfortable beds and pillows. The dinner menu was great; several local choices plus other generic ones. We had the green chili stew and the red chili posole, both with delectable blue corn fry bread, about $15 each. Breakfast was more ordinary, but included with the room, for about $120 for 2. Highly recommended.

Went to explore the Monument Valley on a whim after visiting the Antelope Canyon in nearby Page. We ended up staying overnight at this hotel that is centrally located among incredible rock formations. I was struck by the beautiful architecture, the hotel blending well with nature and its colors. Our room was on the first floor but the hotel is designed so that each balcony faces the spectacular view of the Mittens. there are 3 floors and the higher the room, the more expensive. The top floor has a sky view that allows you to sleep under the moon and the stars. We visited on Feb 1st and it was cooooolllld! We set up our cameras on the terrace outside the restaurant (even the restaurant offers a beautiful view of the sunrise and sunset bathing the valley in wonderful colors!)and waited for the sun to come out of the horizon. We took incredible photos of the sunrise (we were lucky to catch the sunset on our arrival the day before). Then after our free breakfast (good offerings too: oatmeal, breads, juices, yogurts, coffee, etc)) we took our rental SUV to the valley. By the way, don't expect to find any alcoholic drink in the area. This is an Indian reservation and alcohol is prohibited. The staff is very nice and helpful. We forgot to bring toiletries because we did not expect to stay overnight and these items were made available upon request. The rooms are tastefully decorated in the local theme, very clean and spacious, also reasonably priced. Don't forget to visit the gift shop for interesting items. I will definitely stay here again if I go back to Monument Valley.

Room Tip: Top floors offer a view of the moon and the stars!

A lovely room and fantastic bathroom. All rooms overlook the Mittens and you can watch cars driving along the native trail from the balcony. Fabulous view of millions of stars at night even though we didn't have a top floor room. Apart from the bedroom balcony there is also a viewing point near the restaurant, which is good for watching the sun set. There is also a lovely quiet sitting area with native American furnishings/decorations downstairs. It may just be because of the view and surroundings but there is a wonderful sense of serenity and peace there.
When we ate in the restaurant, the food was good and very filling. Recommend trying some of the Navajo dishes.Only other thing to note is that the business side of the the hotel, for parking etc, is rather downbeat and not at all representative of the inside, or the other side of the hotel.

Room Tip: All rooms are good and you don't need a top floor room to see the stars.

We 'stumbled' upon The View while exploring Monument Valley. What a find! If you Google The View you will find fabulous photos which are accurate. It is a first class hotel, being operated by Navaho people, to a very high standard. But it is the design of the hotel and the overall decor that truly delight. Every room has a balcony that overlooks Monument Valley which is one of nature's treasures. Everything one could want within the hotel room was available, including a small fridge and microwave. We had a delightful meal at the restaurant, enjoying the local specialties such as blue corn fry bread and green chile stew. The complimentary breakfast was quite a simple affair. The gift shop has a wonderful selection of native art along with basic items. All the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful, which speaks well of the administrative training and supervision, which is the key to maintaining a quality establishment. The rates are approx. $200 per night in high season (Mar-Oct) but half that during off season. A great treat, especially for nature lovers.

Room Tip: All the rooms have "THE VIEW". One pays a bit more for the premium room, but we were on th...

Spent my birthday evening in this fabulous hotel in monument valley. The view of the stars was amazing. We even had a John Wayne movie projected onto the hotel wall in the evening. Very atmospheric. Loved it.

Since the first time I ate at The View was at night, I was looking forward to enjoying the scenery at lunch. We were very disappointed to find that the seating by the windows was closed off! Our food was served in styrofoam take-out containers and no one was clearing the tables or emptying the garbage.
Our meals tasted fine and the staff were friendly and helpful. The management, however, is making some poor decisions.
