The View Hotel is worth every penny of the nightly charge. Our large room and balcony were outstanding, along the service from all Hotel Staff. My wife and I totally enjoyed the unobstructed sunrises and sunsets over Monument Valley taking many photgraphs which we are now enjoying with family and friends. We would highly recommend this lodging. My only complaint was the intermitent wi-fi signal in our room, it did work fine in the Lobby area.

We stayed at View Hotel this fall and as good as the rooms and view is the food is bad. The view from the room was really wonderful, but the food was just awful. We had breakfast lunch and dinner there and none were very good. The only option you have is to drive done the road to Goulding's Lodge ( about 1 mile) and eat there other wise order wisely.

Room Tip: All rooms face East but you don't want to be on the dinning room end of the building as it block...

My husband booked this hotel when we visited Monument Valley as a part of the surprise birthday trip he planned out for me. It was expensive but when we reached the hotel and went to the balcony of our room, we both agreed it was totally worth it. The best thing about The View hotel is the view itself! Standing in the balcony of our room (all rooms have a balcony and a great view), it felt as if the monuments were in our backyard. Sipping in hot coffee and watching the sunrise from the comfort of our balcony in the calm, peaceful and wonderful Monument Valley was the best part of our trip and the best gift I could have asked for!

We spent two nights in Sept in a premium room--third floor? One very small elevator to go with the very small room! We also had one dinner--quite expensive and their buffet breakfast. The buffet was good, but again expensive--the voucher helped. The highlight for me was the tour through the valley with Charlie, our driver and guide. Sitting in the backend of a pickup truck was fun--tho bouncy! Where else can you do that. We bought our college graduating granddaughter a beautiful piece of jewelry as a token of our love and admiration for her! We've done all of the Utah parks now, but my favorite still is Zion and The Desert Pearl Inn.

Room Tip: The view is good from anywhere

The hotel was great, though slightly amateur at the check in desk. The room was great, spacious and clean (as should be expected) with a big balcony with a wonderful view. The view can not be described, it was just incredible for light and colour. The higher up you go, the better the view, so be specific about booking a room. We had a poor experience in the restaurant. The food was OK, but the getting of a table was chaotic. They took names and let people jump the queue, then it seemed to be first come first served. Couldn't fathom it and there were a lot of angry people. Then they seemed to be favouring tables of four, so those of us who were only a couple were disadvantaged. A couple of women from Leeds grabbed us and announced to the clerk that we were now a foursome and miracle of miracles we got a table instantly. Couldn't face it in the morning again, so skipped the breakfast. We were put off the price of the jeep tours. Much too expensive to be surrounded by red dust in an open jeep. We did go for a walk around the Mittens which was great, well signposted, and free. Just be aware of the weather. We checked with the ranger who said it would be fine and got caught up in a sandstorm which knocked us over, blew away our spectacles and covered us in red mud. We looked like the living dead by the time we got back to the hotel.

Room Tip: The higher up the building you are, the better the view will be.

this hotel went way beyond our expectations. Our room overlooked monument valley with NOTHING in the way (like power lines or construction type things) We took beautiful pictures, relaxed and enjoyed the evening and had an incredible dinner in the restaurant. I wanted to stay longer and will def go back.

Room Tip: every room had a great view.

Room = $89, View = $100; Total = $189 (plus 12% tax). This is an ordinary motel in an extraordinary location. The view out over the Mittens, Merrick Butte, Cly Butte, etc. is fantastic, as are the sunrises and sunsets. The staff is very accommodating and pleasant. The gift shop adjacent to the hotel has *very* nice merchandise at a fair price. The TV was good quality. The breakfast buffet is basic, but unlimited. What's not to like, right? Well......(1) This is a 90-unit, three-story, hotel and there is only *one* elevator. If it goes out of service you'll need to hike your gear up the steps if you're on the second or third floor. In addition, the elevator is not in the middle of the building -- it is clear at one end. If you are in room 201 or 301, you're golden. But if you are in room 230 or 330, be prepared for a 350-400 foot hike down the hall each time you alight from the elevator. (2) The room lighting is, shall we say, "intimate". If you like to read in the evening after the sun goes down, forget it. Or bring your own bulb. The room is outfitted with 14 watt twirly fluorescent bulbs. The desk *did* let us borrow a 60 watt incandescent bulb, but that was the brightest they had. Still not really bright enough for reading. (3) No wireless internet in the rooms. You have to go to the lobby area to get online. (4) Although the hotel is fairly new, it is already getting a "tired" look. Lots of bruises to walls, door frames, and elevator interior. (5) The "eco-green" line of bath amenities is made in China. They missed an opportunity to support a USA company such as Sister Sky. (6) The architecture/construction just seems a bit "off". They should have gotten the architect who did the Moenkopi Legacy Inn -- much more attractive and seems much sturdier. All in all, a decent stay, but if I return I'll probably stay at Goulding's, which is where I stayed on my two previous visits.
