“Perfectly placed between Moab and Lake Powell”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 17, 2011

Having driven from Page throught the awesome Monument Valley, and dawdled for endless photo opportunities we opted to break the journey at Monticello (UT). The owner was extrememly kind and friendly and suggested somewhere to eat and other places to visit. We actually had no problems with the wifi and were able to update family on our progress. The room was spotless and generous in size. (Don't you just love that extra bed to spread your cases on?) Clean bathroom and luxury toiletries were all pluses. We couldn't hold them responsisble for the sudden drop in temperature which brought an unseasonal weather-watch to the area, but we were glad the heater worked well. We are happy to give an unashamed and well-deserved full marks to people that clearly are trying very hard.

Room Tip: Make up your own mins on the rooms. Newer or cheaper?

Got the last room on a late night check in. The room was very clean, spacious and a great bargain. We stayed in a larger room for only $70.00. There was a small fridge in the room. The lady at the front desk was courteous and extremely helpful. She even offered us some popcorn to help tide our hunger over till morning.

Room Tip: The larger room we stayed in was helpful

Thank you for your kind words! I remember the popcorn people! I was glad to do it! I know sometimes all I need at night is something to tide me over. I am so glad you enjoyed your stay and your room, and again thank you for taking the time to post for our family motel! It really does mean the world to us!

For my wife, it has to be clean, or I'm in trouble. This was a bargain at $50 a night and much cheaper than Moab. It is an older motel with no breakfast. A good price and well situated to visit multiple national parks. Family owned business.

Nice motel located very near to CanyonLand National park.
The rates are very good (room starting at $50), and the rooms are clean and comfortable (even if the motel is quite not recent). Do not expect something fancy, but the rooms are well maintained.
They have from single or double rooms and a few new renovated double ones. The "old" rooms are provided with a queen bed, fridge, microwave, coffeemaker and TV ; size of the room was correct.
Only minor point was the shower that was giving too much pressure.
Free wifi is available in all rooms.
Surprisingly there was no mobile phone reception in the motel (while it worked a few blocks ahead).
The motel is located on the 491 highway that cross the city, a few big trucks may be heard during the night but it was quite acceptable (the rooms are not right across the street).
The staff was very friendly.
There is no restaurant or breakfast in the motel, but some are located at a walking distance (in particular for breakfast: just the building next to the motel).
So definitively a good stop for a night or two between Arches/CanyonLand and the Grand Canyon for example.

We often travel to Monticello, but usually stay with friends. This trip my husband & I, chose to stay here after it was recommended by a friend, who is a town local. It was a great vaue for the money. Very clean and the management was very friendly. We just had a room with 1 queen bed. It was small & somewhat dated, (pink toilet & sink..kinda cute though) but very clean & very comfortable. Bed was comfy and had a small fridge & microwave as well. Our room had no tub, but a shower only which was fine for us. Downfall is they do not have breakfast, but all in all It was a very quiet little motel and will stay there again!!

This is probably the toughest hotel to rate of my entire trip (of 5 weeks) so far.
I give it 4 stars based on the hotel itself but know that there are some things that might make your stay less pleasant that are not necessarily anything at fault with the hotel.

Pluses:
The owners/family-- Fantastic people. Super accommodating and friendly. I changed my reservations several times and they just rolled with it with no complaints.
Clean. But be prepared as this is an older hotel there are some "stained" things...but it's clear they clean the rooms well and they seem to be replacing things as the shower walls, wallpaper, carpet and mattress all seemed relatively new.

Negatives: Again... these are not really to do with the hotel and that's why I have given it a rating of 4.
Internet: Yes-- you can log on free wi-fi. The problem is you can't stay on for more than 10 minutes. The signal disappears....so you can't do things like post pictures, chat online etc..
Phone: if you have Verizon-- you won't have a signal about 1/2 the time.
Noise: It's very noisy here-- when someone breathes- you will hear it as there appears to be little sound barrier.

The only real negative about the hotel itself is the water pressure-- it's pretty bad-- and the shower handles all leak and are loose-- but it's not intolerable.

Overall, if I came through here again I would stay one or two nights (but without phone, internet and little sleep not more).

We are so glad you decided to stay here! We are an older motel and there are some ups and downs that come with that. We are also in a very rural area being close to the national parks such as canyonlands and monument valley, to be honest we are very lucky to have cell phone service at all or wi-fi for that matter. We had lightning strike verizons tower on the mountain which is why your service was sketchy, normally it works great! I am very sorry to hear that your room was noisy with your neighbors. We do have new rooms which have a better sound barrier in them, but they are not at the rate the older rooms are at. We appreciate you staying with us and recommending us to others! Thank you and I hope next time your stay will be a 10!
