“Lovely people, lovely B&B”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 17, 2013

This is a renovated B&B in an old mill. We had a quiet, clean room on the top floor. It was lovely and relaxing, good for sleeping. Heather could not have been nicer and more accommodating. There is a guest frig and she said we could even use the kitchen to cook, if we wanted. The fruit and French toast breakfast was delicious. Tea is available all day. The common areas are good for quiet relaxing. We recommend the Grist Mill Inn.

My family and I just returned from a wonderful reunion spent at The Grist Mill in Monticello Utah. What a terrific experience we had! The accommodations at The Grist Mill were exceptional. Every one of the 11 rooms each had its own charm and individual look. The beds were incredibly comfortable and the rooms were well maintained and very clean. Each room had its own private bathroom with several unique features including a claw foot tub in the room that we were lucky enough to stay in. Our family especially enjoyed the pergola which kept us dry yet allowed us to witness a gorgeous Utah thunderstorm in its magnificent splendor. With the large dining room our entire party of over 40 still was able to enjoy mealtime together in the same room. I would highly recommend this location to anyone and encourage whoever stays to tour and enjoy the whimsical mill and its eccentric history.

Room Tip: There are quite a few steps leading up to rooms on the 2nd and 3rd floor of the main mill.

We stayed at the Grist Mill Inn for three nights in June 2013. The bed was comfy, the decor was very nice, breakfast was good and the owner was very sweet and nice to talk to. If we were to be in the area again this is the only place we would stay. The owner gave us a free upgrade because the room we had reserved was having troubles with the TV before we arrived so she had us go right to the upgraded room when we arrived.. The Inn was indeed an old grist mill at one time and was converted to a B&B. Monticello is a quiet place and this is on a side street so very quiet surroundings. it is a great place to use as a base camp for exploring the four corners area. We went to Mesa Verde, Arches, Natural Bridges, Monument Valley, all within easy driving of Monticello. Great place to stay in Monticello.

Great location for visiting the various national parks (Arches, Natural Bridges and Canyonlands) and "old west" sites (Monument Valley and Four Corners). The Inn has information about all of the tourist areas in their lobby area. My wife and I were traveling in the area with my brother n law and my wife's sister. The conversion of an old grist mill to a B&B is very nice. We stayed in the Neilson Suite. Very comfortable. Was very quiet and conducive to relaxation. Lots of off street parking. The couple that manages the inn, David and Heather, were very accommodating and friendly. Any special requests were granted with a smile. Heather made a mouth watering breakfast each morning and you did not go away hungry. If you have "fixins" for daily picnic lunches or want to chill your water or drinks for the next day, a guest refrigerator located the kitchen is provided for storage. There is satellite TV and free Wi-Fi. The inn also partners with 4 Corners Jeep Tours. We rented a jeep from them and toured Beef Basin in the "outback" of Utah. Large open area away from it all with great views. You definitely need a jeep for this area. David was able to provide maps and information about a self guided day jeep tour. Were able to rent, pickup and return the jeep to the Grist Mill which was nice. We were made to feel right at home. Would stay here again if in the area. Thank you to David and Heather for a great stay.

Room Tip: There is no elevator. If you cannot climb stairs, request a first floor room. Evidently window A/C u...

We wanted to stay in Monticello so we would be near the Needles section of Canyonlands National Park(we also went to Mesa Verde while staying here). Although Monticello is a small town the Inn turned out to be a wonderful place to stay. Well decorated and charming. Our room was very nice/comfortable with an excellent bed, good wi-fi, and our own full bathroom. The best part of our stay though was the friendly owners especially Heather. She was most accomodating and provided information on places to go and places to eat. The MD Ranch Cookhouse she recommended turned out to be a nice surprise. There are not many restaurants in Monticello but we had a nice meal and excellent service here - we were so pleased we returned the next night. My wife has some food allergies and both Heather for our breakfast at the Inn and the MD Cookhouse were very accomodating to her needs. Heather goes out of her way to make something different each day of your stay. A charming place, great breakfast and friendly/helpful owners - what more could you ask for! We would definitely stay at the Inn again. It was the nicest place we stayed during our 10 day trip to Utah.

We wanted to minimize our driving to reach the Needles. This is the perfect place to stay. The town of Monticello is pretty sleepy. Dining choices are available, but limited. The inn is very well managed, welcoming, safe, and serves a nice breakfast. Our room was comfortable with a good bed, and full bathroom. Good wifi. Heather was very helpful. The kitchen also has a large guest fridge and freezer. Nice if you need to keep food chilled.

We stayed at the Grist Mill Inn for a couple nights and loved every minute of it. The owners were very helpful for places to eat and day hikes to take. Every room we saw was very charming and unique. Our room was very spacious and clean and the bed was more comfortable than my own at home. Breakfast was yummy and home-made. I will definitely stay here again!

Room Tip: Really every room is so great, you can't go wrong!
