Owner description: Whether it's riding ATVs during the summer or snowmobiling in the winter, Lofty Peaks Adventures is the best choice in Utah for the ultimate back-country experience. Set against the magnificent back-drop of Mount Timpanogas in the Wasatch Mountains, and above Salt Lake and Park City, you will quickly see why this area is called Utah's Alps. There is simply no more picturesque setting or convenient location for an adventure into Utah's famous back-country than piloting your own ATV or snowmobile in Utah (so don't forget your camera). At Lofty Peaks you will see why "we just do FUN, better"! It takes the perfect combination of scenery, location, equipment and service to become Utah's oldest and largest snowmobiling location. You can drive further, and you can spend more, but we stake our 25+ year reputation, that you won't find a better or more convenient snowmobiling and ATV experience than Lofty Peaks!

“Highlight of my Christmas”
Reviewed January 2, 2013

To be honest, Lofty Peaks was my second choice. I wanted to book a snowmobiling trip with another operator that was highly recommended by the destination experts in the Tripadvisor forum but as fate would have it, they were not open on Christmas day. Lofty Peaks was open on Christmas day and it was the highlight of my winter vacation.

The hotel pickup was on time. We would later learn that the elderly gentleman who drove us to the site was the owner. The snowmobiling site was in Midway, about half an hour from Park City. The vistas were incredible, like scenes from an alpine postcard. We took the 2-hour 3PM trip so we had both mid-afternoon and dusk views. Because of some incident with one of the riders (he took a wrong turn and got trapped somewhere), we went down to the base rather late and tasted a little of nightfall with the almost full moon over us. They also dropped us back at our hotel.

I don't know if the other snowmobiling operator is better but I had no regrets picking Lofty Peaks.

Our family went on the 3-hour snowmobile tour with Lofty Peaks in the Wasatach Mountain State Park area. We needed a break from the ski slopes of Park City and thought this might fit the bill. The trip was amazing. Our guides Chad and Ward were terrific and very responsive to the group. We had such a good time on some very challenging trails. The scenery was beautiful and the lunch was great. The best sandwiches and homemade cookies -- would be worth the trip by by themselves! We have never done snowmobiling before, but found that with the help of Ward and Chad we had no problem completely enjoying the day. We did discover, however, that control with a single rider was much easier than riding double, but it didn't hinder the fun one bit. We opted to rent the snow boots for a very nominal fee ($3) since we hadn't brought any heavy duty boots with us. The equipment/clothing at Loft Peaks seems to all be in very good condition which makes for a more comfortable day on the mountain. Our whole family highly recommends this activity and Lofty Peaks provides a terrific experience. Looking forward to doing it again next year.

“Happy Snowmobilers”
Reviewed January 1, 2013

We booked a 3-hour snowmobile tour at Wasatch Mountain State Park and had a great time. You can book through other agents, but you might as well go straight to the Lofty Peaks website or phone them directly, since Lofty Peaks is the company that actually operates the snowmobiling concession. The guys at the clubhouse (you start at the golf clubhouse) were great, and took the time to make sure we had the right gear before we left. Our guide (Chad?) was also first-rate. Our time was spent in a combination of trail riding and open-field playing, and the guide's first priorities were safety and ensuring that we had a good time. He had to pull out a stuck snowmobile more than once, but this was just part of the job for him and he was great about it. For us, the three-hour option was perfect. We actually made our booking through Midway Adventure Company. This was fine, but there is really no need to use a middleman. Next time, we'll contact Lofty Peaks directly. Why not deal directly with the people you're going to see on the day of your rental?

“Best experience in the area”
Reviewed July 26, 2012

As a former Concierge manager in the Park City area, I worked with Lofty Peaks Adventure a lot. Out of the numerous outdoor adventure companies in the area, Lofty Peaks is a shining beacon of customer service and overall experience. I have done a few of their tours as well as sent hundreds of clients to them. As a third-party, I am used to hearing the “truth” about the customers experience once they have returned home. I have had nothing but amazing reviews about their trip from every single person I have sent to LP. The team and the service are simply amazing. Add to that their access to the alpine area, and this is a priceless gem of an operation. They will pick you up at the door of your accommodations, and provide anything you may need for the journey. They literally get a kick out of knowing that each and every member of their tour is having the time of their life. After saying all of that, they also provide some of the most reasonable (cheapest) rates, while providing you a comfortable ride on brand new machines. Don’t even hesitate to call these guys, you will not be disappointed.

“I Loved This!”
Reviewed June 11, 2012

We rented a Polaris Razer to check out the Wasatch State Park. We had the best time and wish we had rented it 4 hours instead of 2.
We did the unguided 2 hour loop. Can't wait to try this again. Michael was vey helpful showing us how the ATV worked and explaining the trails to us. What fun! We saw a moose up close and white tail deer as well.
