If you stay at the Valley of the Gods B&B, this is close by for a total, windswept experience of these ancient canyons. Probably need a 4-wheel drive in rainy season.

Drove out to the Muley Point Overlook. Roads were gravel, but easily navigated. The view was worth the drive.

The view is amazing. We did this before going down the Moki & Goosenecks. The road is at the top of the Moki, heading West. You do not want to be on this road if it is wet, it is not maintained , some class 5 washboards, proceed with caution. We were in a 1 ton 2 wheel dr.. Had some concerns, but drove 25 through the sandy spots. The whole deal is unmarked. It is about 5 miles. The view is worth it, but Utah should put up some signs and grade the road a bit more, since they put this on their State map & is highlighted in many tourist guides, including San Juan County.
There are no facilities here, FWIW, Just a spectacular view, which is OK if you know that.
In conclusion. spectacular, enjoy, proceed with caution.
Utah, fix the road.

Stopped and had a picnic lunch at one of the shaded tables they have, then wandered over and took in the sight of the San Juan River snaking its way through the landscape WAY, WAY down below. Awesome place.

Our family took a driving trip through Valley of the Gods and Monument Valley. Muley Point Overlook is lovely! Remember to take extra water!
